Have had an iPhone for a couple of years but was always feeling line id missed something. Finally decided to jailbreak and feel the freedom.

What a disappointment! All I found was expensive apps on cydia. Downloaded lockinfo and sbsettings. Has a play for a couple of weeks then the novlelty wore off.

Tell me why are the apps so expensive, flaky full of adds? Particularly the adds

Why?  Because Apple have no control over the content sold..  As frustrating as the apple processes are, they make sure the apps are half decent before setting them lose on the market.

Full of ads? Which ones? All the paid apps I have off cydia certainly don't have ads and work well. The only one I can think of that has ads is sbsettings, and thats free and the ads only appear on the settings page which you see once or twice when setting up the program.

As for expensive, they're usually 1-3$ and not more than $10. The developer pool is smaller, so they can nickel and dime you for functionality that apple should have included in the first place.

It's the jailbreak tweaks that are worth having. And a lot of them are free.
If you put a firewall on you can stop the ads on the AppStore apps too. You'd be surprised as to how many apps are sending info out.

BiteSMS is defo worth it, I would hope Apple learn from that product!!

SBSettings is also great easy access to all those controls

5Icon Dock is also good

Camera Buttons is great (using the volume button to take pictures)

Qtweeter is pretty cool too for easy tweeting

I think jalibreaking is a good thing there is so many tweaks and alot are free

You can't expect to get everything for free. Some the jailbreak tweaks are well worth there money and i dont mind having to pay $1-3 for there apps because i want them to be able to keep being able to support them with new features and any bug fixes. Its funny how many people i have heard complaining about paying for some apps on their phones. I mean most them don't have any problem going out and spending $100 on buying a PS3 or Xbox game or even worse apps like office that are like a couple of hundreds dollars but $1-3 dollars is to much!!
