Hi

I was just wondering if anyone here has used GPS units for mapping out farms etc?

I work for an Irrigation company and we are looking into buying something we can use to
create maps of our clients farms, ie boundary fences, water sources, hedge lines, and then load the relevant information
back into my computer.

GPS units i understand can be accurate from 5m - 5mm, depending on how much you are willing to spend.

Currently we use range finder glasses and theodilites (sp?) but these are very time consuming to use and increasingly inaccurate due to either the amount of ground we have to cover or if there is a 50 year old row of macracarpa running through the middle of the property.

Any feed back on peoples opinions about GPS units or thier experiences would be much appreciated.

Regards
Dan

Sorry, a little late I know.. but have a chat to the folks at Geosystems. They should be able to recommend something.
