Hi there, I've been having issues with my connection speeds ever since moving house recently. My speeds are as slow as 1.0-2.0 mb/s and I can't even stream Youtube =[ worse still is that my plan is the LLU Service (Orcon@Home Platinum+ (25GB)) which really drives me crazy because I'm paying so much and receiving such slow speeds. I think this is completely unfair! Orcon has been really bad to me .___. My question is what are the possible reasons why my speeds are going so slow, and what exactly does being in an exchange or cabinet mean? I think from ADSL2+ Service Availibility Tool it says that I'm in the exchange, and when I click show cabinet I'm not in it. I really hate these slow speeds and I feel like I'm being cheated here so if anyone could give me a solution I'd appreciate it ALOT ALOT =]

Many thanks

I am sure others here will ask for some more information from you, but some of the cases can be resolved at home - are you using proper filters? Is the internal wiring in good conditions?

Perhaps you could run a test - unplug all phones, faxes, Sky boxes from the wall. Then plug the modem only. Test again. If it performs well, then plug the other devices one by one and see if they cause any interference.

Also when using filters make sure they are between the plug and a phone - never use filters between the plug and the modem.

Since you are getting slow speeds to local speedtests, it would indercate there is something wrong with the sync speed or home setup

Have you talked to the Orcon helpdesk about this? Do you have a ticket reference number we could look at?

Was reading the threads and decided to sign up... I too have had slow speeds over this year and just the last last few months had drop out after drop out. I have checked my modems (have 2, 1 for a back up) at other adresses and achieved better results than I am currently getting.
This here was my best test and since then I have changed nothing with the set up and used to get these results most of the time.

Now to my current speed... For one I can't stream youtube and site pages are taking AGES to load.To play games online is a joke. You just cant do it. I moved from xtra due to poor speeds and now am getting the same from Orcon

As you can see there is a HUGE difference. I have rung support and for the 50+ min wait on hold they told me the same thing I havd been doing for the last 2 hours. Something has changed.. Mayb its time I change ISP. Any help in this would be much appreciated.

Definitely outside Orcon+ network then, so it's not the cabinets. Call up and advise that you'd like to log a fault - they should be able to have a Chorus tech out within a few days (if your phone is with Orcon, otherwise they might need you to log it with Telecom) and these guys are usually pretty good at sorting issues.
