Hi there,
Im on windows vista on my laptop and everytime i connect my Ideos to my laptop it will not find the drivers for it so it turns into a pain in the butt when trying to put stuff on the ph from my laptop as I pretty much need to take micro SD out and put it in the micro reader and into my lappy to be able to put things on it etc..

is there an easy way to get the drivers to work on my laptop (im not completely clever at doing this so easy would be best) cheers Undecided

When connected to the laptop you can browse the phone and you will see a folder named "Drivers".
Also when you have a micro SD card in the phone and you plug in a usb cable go to the alert area on the top left of the screen and pull it down and touch the "i want to transfere flies to the memory card" that takes you to another screen where you are able to get the phone to disconnect from the memory card and lets you use it.

I can't remember the exact wording for these screens but it is fairly obvious what to do.

Yeah just plug the phone in with USB, and tap 'Turn on USB storage' on the phone to get the laptop to see the SD card as a drive...or do you not get that 'Turn on USB storage' on the phone? [I'm using XP btw]

I get the turn on USB sharing (or something to that affect), I click yes but on my computer it asks for the drivers and will not find them on the phone (even though I know they are there)

hence why I'm asking as I cant get it to do as its told lol.. and I cant access my SD Card on my computer through being connected on USB & telling it i want to add files etc ....

This is what happens on my computer when I connect the Ideos Phone & on the Ideos tell it to turn on USB Storage...

No SD Card comes up in the My Computer Area, Computer finds new Hardward but can not locate driver....

Have you got USB Debugging enabled?

(via Settings\Applications\Development)

If this is enabled it asks to install a driver.

If so try it with USB Debugging disabled.

Hi, try with USB debugging turned on.

Remove and replug phone back into USB. After about 20 seconds, go to the phone and bring down the notifications bar, there should be an option to then turn on Mass storage. See if this way works or not.

Cheers

Hmmm, sorry to hear that.

The next thing might be to check the phone in another computer to see if the issue is with the computer or the phone. It's probably because the computer doesn’t have the mass storage device driver that is required to get it working. However the phone uses a standard driver for this which all recent computers should have.
By checking on another computer we can at least determine whether this is the case or not.

Just to clarify when first connected by USB the IDEOS shows up as a CD Drive (called Mobile Partner) which has some drivers and other files on it.

Then you have the option to Turn on the USB Mass Storage (your SD Card) which shows up as another drive.

Yep when you tell it to use the drivers on it.. it says they are not there and can not run...

when I turn USB Mass Storage on it does not show up at all
