Hi Guys,

Recently moved house and have taken my transonic freesat decoder with me, it worked fine plugged in to an old sky disk at the last place.

The new house doesn't have a dish, sky or any other but does have an satellite type cable output on the wall. this connects to an amplifier in the loft (ANT270a) and then out to the roof which has a digital aerial.

What happens is as soon as i plug the freesat decoder into the wall the decoder instantly reboots, starts up again and then reboots.. and so on..

there are no standard UHF aerial points in the lounge so i'm guessing they must have used this connection.

Any suggestions as to whats happening or possible solutions?

Satellite type cable outputs are pretty common for both UHF and satellite these days - you can't really guess what it is based on the plug alone.

Cheapest solution for you will be to buy a new freeview box that supports UHF. More expensive alternative is to get a dish installed so that you can use your Transonic freeview box

When you say "digital antenna" I presume you mean UHF?
Sounds like you are plugging it into a UHF distribution amp so that won't work. Satellite boxes must be connected to a dish.
F sockets are very common for UHF now and when I installed my UHF I installed f socket outlets at each TV/PC location. They are labelled though to differentiate them from the Sky Dish socket. The old Belling Lee/PAL sockets are virtually a thing of the past now and not very good at UHF.
If you are in a UHF area then get a UHF STB or a new TV.
