Wondering if anyone can help...

We've moved into a property that seems to only have satellite aerial connections on the wall and not for an RF cable/UHF connection. We've got a Veon 42inch led TV that has freeview built in. Model SRO422016. We've tried connecting it to the wall connection for the satellite but we're not receiving any channels.

I'm guessing the tv only has DVB-T built in and not DVB-S? Guessing we now need a set top box?

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

If the tv only has a "push on" connection then it is only for DBV-T (this is the case for %85 of tv's)

however Panasonic, LG and Samsung all make models that have both DVB-T and DVB-S with the latter also having a F-Type aka screw on connection

Thought as much then. Ok thanks. Looks like I'll need a set top box then. I tried connecting it to the tv via an f-type adaptor but it didn't pick any channels up so veon probably only provide DVB-T

every time I have had a customer come in and want a F-type adapter I have asked "whats on the roof" and the answer is a satellite
Well then sorry it will not work; you cant just buy the $4 adapter, you will need to buy the $128 STB or get a UHF aerial installed.....

We're in a rental so unlikely to get a UHF aerial installed. It has been refurbished though some I'm wondering why they didn't bother keeping the old aerial as well as a satellite dish being installed. You could cater for. It's those that want sky/cable and those that just use freeview

unfortunately some people seem to think the UHF aerial's are "ugly"
very common if you are a sky subscriber and see no point in having it

If you are in a strong signal area, you could get away with an internal or attic DVB-T antenna.

They may have had an old VHF/UHF antenna from the past.

You could always ask if they would be willing to install a rooftop UHF antenna - it may have been simply overlooked.

You can stream TVNZ live from the internet via a Chromecast, Playstation, Xbox etc
