Hi from this side of the planet (Ireland)

I have just spent the last few days trying to digest what is needed for DVB-T with my Hauppage Nova T-stick and I would like to say thanks for all of the work that all of you have been doing :)

The Irish DTT system is going to be the same standard..technically speaking of course have no idea how good / bad the TV programming is in NZ..

I have got the GBPVR software the ffdshow decoder / codec (s) and have installed the monogram AAC decoder / codec (s)

So hopefully when the testing begins in the next few weeks, I will have all the bases working and my setup will work

I'm going to try do a outline guide (actually very minimal as I don't want to confuse people..) and maybe post it if helps other newbies to this kind of thing. (After testing begins so I can confirm what I did works..)

Sounds good.
However it's suggested for h264 video you should use graphics card accelerated codecs (eg powerdvd and maybe arcsoft), which will work with the Geforce 8500 and above. FFDshow uses the cpu only, which means you're likely to get lag.

Okay I might try that too if the power cinema related download from Hauppauge's support site works with my T-Stick..

Hopefully my Laptop will be able to deal with the new standard, it handled the MPEG2 Trial in Dublin without a problem..

I have a Intel 945GM graphics card, but I don't know how to accelerate it though, it says it is using 8mb of a possible 128mb in graphics memory terms. Also the laptop has two 1162Mhz processors in it so hopefully they are up to whats required..

BTW; I can e-mail a draft of the guide for checking over if anyone would like to have a look..

H264 mpeg 4 is a lot more resource intensive than mpeg2, unfortunately i don't think your graphics card supports h264 decoding (unsure), so your CPU will have to do the work. So its quite a possibility you're going to get lag if they are using H264 mpeg4 rather than mpeg2.

Check this guide from one of the members here. I'm not sure if it's up to date with the latest MediaPortal settings but it should have the codecs and things outlined. Could be a good way to see if you've missed anything, and if he is then maybe you can let hime know...

That guide is geared more towards more advanced users in my opinion, whereas mine is for getting people like myself with a little knowledge to get set up initially

I have updated my guide slightly and its now as a pdf (also reccomended that guide in it too, should people wish to move up a gear

)
