Hello there, I know absolutely nothing about this  so please bear with me.

I am considering purchasing the Samsung 2370HD LCD monitor which has a built in HDTV - Tuner.

I was told that it would work in New Zealand by the supplier, so that is not a problem.

But I am just wondering, how exactly do I get it to work / what do I need to view HDTV or even standard freeview/ normal channels 1/2/3/4 etc on my monitor?
Do I just plug in the cord which leads to my TV into my monitor and voila it works? Or do I need some extra equipment.

I live in a townhouse complex, so I'm not really sure if I already have a aerial or not, but all I can say is, my LCD TV in the living room connects to a single cord.

Thanks

Where are you getting this TV from? Chances are, if from outside New Zealand it won't work for Freeview reception - sure it will show anyting fed from a set top box or media center, but its tuner probably won't find local channels.

Both ComputerLounge and Playtech responded similarly

"Yes this monitor comes with the Freeview HD tuner build in

All you need is a antenna on top of your roof and connect the coaxial cable
to the monitor and you are done

Sales @ Playtech"

Is this true?

But it also says on the site that it's a ATSC tuner, and it wasn't on the Samsung NZ website, so I'm assuming it is a parallel import.

However, saying this, I'm 100% sure if I receive it and it was a fault on their part by advertising incorrectly, I would be able to receive a refund.

Well, get it and if the tuner is not a DVB-T Freeview|HD tuner return it. You have evidence they promised the product to be like that.

I can't find any references to this monitor in a New Zealand site, so I'd doubt this information.

Okay, thanks.
But it is it really as exactly as he described?
All I have to do is plug the cord from my TV into my monitor and I'm okay?
There's no other equipment needed?

If there's a tuner and if the tuner is compatible with Freeview, then that's it.

The only possible issue you may encounter is with a distribution system if there is a single aerial. Many people in apartments have found that they can't get all Freeview channels as some of the frequencies have been used by things such as channels for CCTV etc.

SmithCity in Wellington appear to be selling this model 2370hd. I too am looking for a monitor for the home pc which I can also play ps3 and watch Freeview when my partner steals the main tv. Would this be a good option? Is there a better optiion?
