kiwitrc: Sounds like Foxtel to me.

With Foxtel Play (delivered via the internet) you first have to choose a 'Genre Pick' @ A$25 per month before you can add the 'Sports Pick' @ A$25 per month.  Making a total of A$50 per month.

So it doesn't look like it's Foxtel.  Any other suggestions?

You can connect 3 devices to it ... so you can share the costs with 2 others.
I have access to it but pay only $20 a month.

I too am over the increasing cost of Sky TV. The latest annual price rise letter is the last straw for my wife and I. We're also now starting to look at streaming services to replace our MySky HDI unit.

I'd be quite interested in trying that nameless sport package at $25 per month, if someone wanted to DM me the details!

As much as I dislike Sky as a company, last night I watched the Hurricanes v Chiefs game on a primo 60" Samsung LED TV, and the quality was incredible. I stream PLP and Gamepass and am happy with my viewing experience but it just doesn't hold a candle to live rugby on Sky on a good tv.

I would sign up tomorrow if I didn't have to take the stupid basic package just to get sports. I would pay more for sports alone, too. Maybe $30-40 per month.

Dreams are free though, right?

Mind you, you can do that with Sky multiroom as well ;)

I just cancelled my Sky subscription after being a customer of theirs for something like 16+ years.  The latest price increase was the straw that broke the camel's back.  We rarely watched it anyway.  They asked why I was cancelling and I told them that Sky no longer offers value for money with all the much cheaper streaming options out there.  They tried to offer me the Sports channels three months free but I'm afraid that wasn't enough.

Glad to see some of you giving them the heave, but, like a lot of people, the sports is the big problem here.

Pretty cynical just increasing the basic and the sports given that the former is not an option and the latter is the biggest puller.

If they can offer that for free to someone who is wanting to leave, why don't they provide it to everyone now. Free for 3 months though isn't really enough of a sweetener.

Offering that to everyone is giving away a great deal of money. I agree, the free sport for three months is only a small saving. I pay 99-74, and I dont have Movies, just Basic, Sport, HD, MySky. I could get that for 48 on a deal for 12 months, when they have that. Sport holds me, but I could work round that if I have to. I like docos channels but dont watch that much. I know the deal with getting new customers, no issue with that, but half price of which I pay now and I get free movies on top, thats quite a huge gap. Cancel for 3 months and I am eligible. I expect that after the RWC competition might heat up, then there may be sioem hefty price adjustments

SumnerBoy: I wish I didn't love watching rugby/cricket/league...would save me a lot of $$$!

I found ways to watch the Cricket live on a stream for free. If you're willing to look around a bit and not get 1080p (my stream was 480p but was watching on laptop so that was fine) Then hey, world is your oyster
