Advice at work is domestic air travel needs explicit CEO approval and be business critical. Avoid if possible.

My take is don't travel unless you really need to to get somehwere you can wait this out.

My dad is getting married on Saturday. Around 100 guests. The wedding is outside at a park but the reception is at his house in a marquee. I don't think he will cancel based on previous conversations. I don't think I can take my wife and kids there.

It's worse than that, the 100 must include the Happy Couple, the celebrant and any other 'paid help' you need - photographer, musician(s), cooks and/or waiters etc. If it's a completely DIY wedding, maybe the guest list can run to 95, if it was going to be at any kind of commercial venue you're probably down to a maximum of 85 or maybe 90.

Do as my daughter did: bride, groom, celebrant, celebrant's spouse/photographer, bride's two adult siblings (no partners) as witnesses. End of list. Tell siblings 'special lunch, wear best duds' to maintain complete operational security

Everything is risky. Whether something is 'too risky' is a matter of how you assess risk and the value you place on it. I would not travel to go on holiday and I would not travel to shop for clothes. I would travel without hesitation to save a friend from suicide, or to verify a winning Powerball ticket. How do you quantify 'too risky'?

Thanks, that's interesting. To us, half the enjoyment of a NZ holiday is going to lots of nice restaurants and cafes and getting a break from having to cook for ourselves. And of course, visiting places where there are many other tourists from both NZ and overseas.

Yes, it may be better to "wait it out" by staying home, but I guess this could go on for many months. I actually feel sorry for overseas visitors who not only have to self isolate first for 14 days, during which time NZ's confirmed cases seem to be taking off, as predicted by many on this forum. And then, they can't really enjoy their holiday because of worries about the virus and even worse, they might find it hard to get a flight home where they no doubt will also face a self-isolation period. It seems tourism is almost dead in the water, anywhere.

Odd... I like it better when there aren't crowds of tourists.

My wife went to Rotorua last weekend for a girl's weekend away... she reported that it was quiet as, no queues, they enjoyed themselves tremendously.

I've seen 'ban' and 'advice' used regarding the '100 people' announcement. Will Police enforce this, or are we asking people to simply comply with 'advice'?

Yes, how to define "too risky" is a very good question that thousands of people are now coming face to face with. On the face of it, the fact that there are only 28 confirmed cases in the whole of NZ would mean that the risk of actually coming into contact with someone who has the virus and hasn't self-isolated is extremely low. But, if you intend travelling within NZ for 3 weeks, I guess you have to take into account the number of confirmed cases that may occur during that period.

Even if you're not travelling, the same risk assessment applies when you're at home. For example, should we go to the supermarket or have our groceries delivered? Should we buy a new car and test drive a few of them or should we go shopping in a big city or even a small town?

So to me, "too risky" means when there is a better than even chance that you're likely to get infected with the virus by interacting with other people. Have we reached that point yet, I don't think so, but the fact that in the last 2 days we have gone from 12 to 28 cases is a bit of a worry!

The Washington Post - Twitter cracks down on coronavirus misinformation

Twitter is cracking down on coronavirus content that contradicts health authorities, as several tech giants try to combat misinformation about the pandemic.

The social media platform will work with “trusted partners” such as governments and “public health authorities” to review information, it said in a Wednesday blog post.

Facebook, which said back in January that it would remove dangerous claims about the virus, also on Wednesday announced a coronavirus news and resources portal for its billions of users.

Examples of tweets that will now be deleted, as outlined in the blog post, include: denials of expert guidance, such as the declaration that “social distancing is not effective”; promotion of actively harmful coronavirus treatments and remedies that are ineffective; unverified claims that spawn mass panic, such as a false statement that food shipments will end for two months.

Twitter said it is also creating a “global content severity triage system” - prioritizing the violations it addresses first by the harm they present. ...

Geektastic: Anyone been to Queenstown recently? That place is always busy. Be interesting to know what it’s like.

I am told it's empty, void of tourists. but i checked the webcam there are a few people in town, probably enjoying their "self isolation" or maybe they have been around for 14 days who knows.
