Is this true ? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8115879/COVID-19-Australian-researchers-CURE-coronavirus.html

this is not news. From the start According to the Chinese they have used these to cure some of their patients. The Australians are picking up where the Chinese left off and seeing if it works. Presumably other countries are too. But then if they are, then why numbers keep climbing? Many questions.

The treatment is being used in South Korea.  Watch these MedCram videos for an in-depth explanation.

I think everyone needs to calm down a little... spend less time over analysing everything and live your lives! Lets just see what happens, so far nobody is right... maybe in a few weeks someone will be right and I'm sure there will be a 'told you so' but until then lets just all chill.

You will never hear "I told you so" from me - but I'm quite sure there will be regrets. Do you really think, we would sink our EU economy for a hoax?

Whatever your measures will be today, you will see the effect with a 14 days delay and that's too long to wait for.

It's not like we don't have proof this thing is deadly. Just look at Italy. And look at how both the UK and the US has changed their tune about it. Neither would have taken extreme measures if they didn't think this was serious.

This all comes down to the country needing to be Proactive, rather than Reactive.

https://www.researchgate.net/post/proactive_versus_reactive_approach_which_is_better

With this virus, any move that is in reaction to an event today, is reacting to something that  actually occurred up to 14 days ago, due to the long incubation period of this virus. That is really why this virus is such a big problem, because we are always playing catchup, which is nearly impossible without being proactive. It is like trying to chase someone down who is faster than yourself.

IMO  NZ schools are eventually going to close, why are we delaying that, and what is the trigger point? Or is it a case of working through the logistics? In UK where they close schools on Friday, but they are still keeping parts open for children of key workers including medical staff etc, which makes sense.

Meanwhile it appears China, South Korea and Singapore are experiencing a second wave of the virus, due to people returning home https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-51955931

They learned not to use "midnight".

Closed borders from 11.59 pm tonight.

About bloody time. I have had no end of trouble working with clients in different parts of the world saying "we'd like this back by 12:00 pm", where figuring it out from context is impossible.

Well, 12 pm is midday and it is not ambiguous.

Midnight on the other hand can be either the start or end of a day.

While there was a bit of a fog on information out of china, the world has known how deadly this is for well over two months.

The early R0 and mortality rates were comparable to the 1918 Spanish flu. I don't know why anybody would expect a different outcome of it got loose. (especially given increased global mobility since 1918)

The action's china took to control this were epic, and were readily available for the world to see. (even if thing like the true death count were disputed).

For me, the realization about how big this was going to be came on the 31st of January when china (despite being strongly nationalistic, and the worlds largest producer of face-masks) placed orders for 200m facemasks from turkey (turkey produces only 150m masks per year).

Frustrating that the western would has only started to take this seriously in the last three weeks.

Given we have failed at to keep Covid-19 out of NZ, it is very frustrating that we haven't yet taken the domestic threat seriously. We won't know the damage for two weeks, but we still stand a realistic chance of stomping out covid-19 if we act now. In two weeks it may be too late.

It is crazy that schools, nightclubs etc are still open.

The high school in Dunedin test result 150 negative really surprised me and from what I learned from Chinese media(news and private forums) there is no way no one is infected by the virus by staying close to a carrier without any protection for a few days.

Anyway, after all these months reading, I do suggest following(just my point of view):

 - Wear masks when you are in a public place, you can believe western media do not use them unless you are sick. But from what China/Japan/Korea is doing, the masks does help a lot to protect yourself since the virus transmit through air. And you never know who is carrying the virus since most people does not have any symptom even they are carrying the virus.

 - Do not rub your eye or poke your nose without wash your hand, the virus can affect you from your eyes/nose. And the virus can stick onto anything that a carrier touched(elevator buttons, door handles etc).

 - There is no medicine can cure it yet. There are news in China/Japan regarding Favipiravir/Remdesivir, which believe is helpful. The Favipiravir can be purchased but very expensive(not sure in NZ). The Remdesivir is doing testing in China the result will be release in 27th April, and China has already mass producing it. There are Chinese herb that believe can cure it, but I doubt you can get the ingredients in NZ.

 - Try to stay home, I guess there is no enforcement can be apply in NZ to shuts everyone in home, but this is how China fights over this virus, with a huge sacrifice of course.

 - Do not test your luck, most carrier is pretty normal until certain days passed...

 - Do you best to stay away from this. From what happened in China Dec last year, and what in Italy right now, do not put too much hope in having a space in hospital/doctor/nurse to take care of you, there are not many country can achieve what China has done.

Edit:

 - the most important is if you are infected and no space in hospital, isolate yourself and do not make contact to anyone(healthy or unhealthy) unless they are fully protected(from tip to toe), clean things you used/touched regularly to make sure they will not harm you again during recovery. Try eat as normal even you don't feel like to(most people lost their taste), make sure rest well, and your body can fight through the virus in 1 or 2 weeks, if you are healthy has no other diseases...

Don't the tests mainly only detect it once you start to show symptoms?  Although there have been cases where people not showing symptoms have also tested positive, but that does seem more rare.

We know people can test negative in these cases(tested only days after exposure) and still have it, the 150 are still required to self isolate the full 14 days. That being said if any do have symptoms they will start over the next few days.

The WHO only recently classified it as a pandemic. Only after that occurred did US then take some massive steps, and it has escalated since then. I suspect if it had been officially classified as a pandemic far earlier, countries would have taken bigger steps earlier

As long as they are all self isolating properly and it is enforced, then they would be in the same position as anyone returning to NZ from overseas who also may have it.

From what I read the virus transfers from one place to other place, at beginning when there is no symptoms tests can be done in mouth or throat or nose or eyes where is infected, after symptoms shows the virus moves down to the body and will be negative if tests is done in mouth/throat/nose/eyes. That's why China is doing more than 1 tests on people after things out of control. But these is not from official news or heard from a doctor myself, just rumors on the internet.
