kingdragonfly: You'd hope their attitudes have changed, but probably not.
They haven't, unfortunately. A friend of mine in NYC who's Jewish but, if anything, unorthodox, said that a major problem in the city was large Hasidic Jewish communities who "live 5,000 to a building" (his words) and were still engaging in mass weddings and religious gatherings right until the forced lockdown, including Hasidic events like the tish gatherings which pack as many people as possible into a fixed space, often stacked in rows five or ten deep, to share food. Apparently it's tearing through those communities...
The prime minister has confirmed more comprehensive quarantine regulations are coming.

In that case, actively discussed by Murdoch media shills (with zero expertise on the subject) interviewing each other.

Just a personal observation about illness of the nasty kind, people tend to look for reasons why someone else got it - and they didn't, and use it to create a myth that they won't. Sometimes they might be partly correct (ie they might not smoke, or go for runs etc), but more often they're wildly delusional, "it's not in our family" or "I'm a vegan - meat is the reason!".

And then there are the Louisiana church goers who say they don't need to practice social distancing because they have been washed in the blood of the lamb.
Personally, I'd have no problem with Hasidic jews or the Louisiana christians being free to choose to follow their ignorance into destiny ... except this is an extremely contagious disease, so these people shouldn't be free to bump up against and infect others in the wider community.
The spread of Covid-19 is based on two factors:
1) How dense the population is
2) How dense the population is

That was my hypothesis but then dont Taiwan, Singapore etc have similar density to NYC, Lombardi etc?
Yes, But read what was written a second time, the first statement doesn't mean the same as the second statement.

Having faith in God's protection is no stronger/weaker among evangelicals than other conservative religions. In Iran, some idiots were encouraging Muslim worshipers to lick a shrine.
I can't speak to other non-Christian faiths, but there's a lot of conmen / hucksters among evangelicals. I'd say for every God fearing evangelical preacher, there's another in it just for the money, sex, or power.
I actually worked briefly for a conman. Our two families were close, and literally no one in their family were Christian. He never ever mentioned Jesus to anyone who lived closeby.
We would literally go around the South looking for businesses that had signs out front like "Jesus is Lord," "Jesus is the reason for the season," "Trust in God", "You must be born again" or various shorthand like "John 3:16" or "John 3:1-21"
He'd then go inside without me, praise Jesus, and try to sell them whatever technical crap we were carrying. He was surprisingly successful. I'd be responsible for the installation.
A conman evangelical primary weapon to fleecing his flock is four steps.
1) "Minimize": Your eternal reward is in heaven, or your eternal punishment is in hell; either way your time on Earth is brief.
2) "the reward": calling upon the victim to give your money to God, at least a 10% titching, and God will give you back even greater wealth, or if you're sick, you'll be healed.
3) "transferal": the conman explains that he is God's exclusive representative, so give him your money, even if that means not paying medical and utilities bills.
4) "the punishment": if you don't pay, you're cursed.
I have said it before:
Faith is individualistic and immutable and incorruptible.
Religion is a social construct,
made by Man for Man to explain Faith,
therefore it is fallible.
EDIT: youtube error
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I hope they get dealt to but I guess its will just be thousands of educational updates. If this is the state of play for Easter, then yes, its wasted, just need to re do the Alert level 4. Or NZ accepts that we dont have the nous, the culture or the stomach to fix the virus problem, we would rather have have a few days holiday instead. Its a pity that most have do have what it takes, but its being wasted. I hope there are empty hotels at these lovely tourist hotspots that can be used for forced quarantine to ensure this Easter Break is nipped in the bud at each location. "Stay in the Hotel" After 14 days they will be clear and can drive home
The wayward absentee Landlord is at it again.
Flying back in and starting 14 day isolation.
First thing you do naturally is to forceably isolate yourself with one set of your tenants against their objection.
I don't need no isolation, 2m be dammed.
Breaking their bubble, and endangering police sent to remove him.
So now you have been reminded of proper conduct , what do you do
Yep....
He does it again to another set of tenants, police again.
Then takes a 100km drive to Ngatea , to finally a property he does own that's not occupied by others.
Wow he must really hate the free govt supplied hotel.
I expect the hotel had broadband etc available , surely not that bad. ?
Did he endanger petrol station attendants, supermarket staff etc on all these travels as well.
Suppose with his face up on the usual news websites the locals in Ngatea can at least be wary should they see him at the local market etc.
I expect he is wondering what all the fuss is about.
A good argument for the new forceable isolation where we choose to put you , and stay put rules.
23 new confirmed and 6 probable. No new cases. 14 cases in hospital, 4 in ICU.
