I'd be really curious where they're sourcing stock from. Apart from the odd demo unit all the 2017 B8's were sold and gone from the country by about April/May 2018.
I honestly don't think I'd also pay that for it - the B8 was only a few hundred more when it was available and it was a vastly superior set.
I missed this. Would have grabbed it if it's still available.
Looking to get any OLED from LG for around 2k mark :)
It's a display model I believe, but nevertheless, it's no more.
I actually was able to grab a LG 55" OLED for 2k plus 3 year warranty for $249 from Noels today.
OLED55B8 is the model number and it's a display stock.
There are some more in other stores if anyone is keen on a OLED.
I was after a 65" LED but found most of them are close to 2k which made me think if this OLED was a better proposition for a bedroom for similar price.
Took the 3 year warranty for piece of mind as it's a display model.

Jeez.. No way in the world a 2 1/2yr old display model is worth $2k
maxeon: It is a 2018 model from what I learnt from online and the displayed demo was for 3 months.
I was meaning the OP's link which was the B7 (2017 model) vs your B8 which is the 2018 model.
To be honest I wouldn't pay $2k for a 2018 demo model that had been on display for 3 months. I'd probably consider somewhere around $1800 to be a fair price for the TV.
Does your panel have any visible screen burn?
maxeon: No screen burns. Plus I have paid for extended warranty just to ensure.
Out of curiosity since that offers no additional protection vs the CGA how to they pitch it these days and what do they promote as the key differences between the warranty and the CGA on the summary page they need to give you?
maxeon: They did not offer me a CGA page or brochure.
But the sales person would only sell that TV at that price if I take up the warranty for 249 or aparently they risk if it breaks.
Considering it was my first on display purchase I took the hit.
I am in two ways about this warranty, it probably makes it easy when it comes to claiming?
Also have a 7 day cooling off period to cancel the warranty which I read last night.
I would immediately cancel the extended warranty and report Noel Leeming to the Commerce Commission for breaking the law. They are without a doubt the dodgiest retailer in NZ, and the more people that do this the better.
You have 5 days, not 7 days to cancel it, and by law they must provide you with -
When you sell an extended warranty, you must:
- provide consumers with a document that includes an explanation of the protections a consumer automatically has under the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) and provides information that compares the consumer's CGA protections with the protections offered by the extended warranty
- explain that if the consumer buys an extended warranty, they can change their mind and cancel within 5 working days, and get a full refund of the price paid for the extended warranty.
As they didn't provide you with this they've already broken the law.
the Comcom has already fined numerous businesses for selling you the CGA
I normally either negotiate a very very low price for a 4 year extension (which brings most things to 6 years) or I don't.
There are some benefits with a 6 year warranty - I have had a few things crap out at 5 years 10 months (no joke), and you call them and there is completely no call out fee, no transport fee (eg a fridge would need to be trucked to the repair shop), etc. Had that happen a few times and it's more than pay for the hundred bucks I paid. Once I was in Australia and harvey norman's warranty covers everywhere that has a Harvey norman! But that was my fault apparently, a sock found its way to the water exit of my bosch washing machine, but I do fill it 3 times more than its rated capacity. It's now over 10 years I've had that bosch ...
Apparently for the cheap stuff they give you a new one - I have not had that before so I don't know if they will or won't. I bought a 6 year warranty on a handheld vac just to test it out!
maxeon: Is there a link to report to com com?
How easy is the process. Back of my mind don't want to get into troubling the sales person.
I presume you bought the warranty (is it 3 years ie +1 year or +3 years ie 5 years??)
for premature screen defects from being display model.
I would list down all the screen issues and explicitly ask them if it's covered by the warranty and get them to write it down.
If not, you have grounds to cancel the warranty.
eg screen burn
screen discolouration
screen etc
