Trump breaking the law would not be needed. The Department of Justice has a longstanding policy that it does not prosecute sitting presidents, apparently.

Yes, that's a policy, but it is not the law. I would carry on; in the first instance if anyone mentioned the policy I would simply say that he wasn't a sitting president when he committed the crimes, he wasn't a sitting president when he was investigated, and he wasn't a sitting president when the prosecution began, therefore the policy does not apply. I would make them fire me.

johno1234: Third term attempt is zero chance. I still have that $1000 bet open but no takers which says it all.

vs a second term lasting longer or forever

Or the presidency becomes an inherited title, much like a king/queen ?

Fire as in US style or NK Style ?

You are literally demanding that he commit suicide, such is Trumps desire for revenge.

If Trump is going to successfully assassinate people, then he's already near the top of the list.

Correct which is why he needs to tidy up, sort out his personal life  and leave the USA.

Point a J6th "victim" at him with a full pardon in the offering .... and unfortunately witness/evidence there set to be deleted too...

Asking for a friend.

Where did those extra 15 Mil votes in 2020 for the Dems come from?

2004 Kerry - 59 Mil
2008 Obama - 69.5 Mil
2012 Obama - 65.9 Mil
2016 Clinton - 65.9 Mil
2020 Biden - 81.3 Mil
2024 Harris - 66.4 Mil

interesting stats.

any explanation for the blip in 2020? presumably also the same blip for the Republicans (as i recall the race was pretty close last time)

Past behaviour is an ideation of future behaviour.

Trump is big on revenge, he hates paying his bills, people who have taken him to court have been driven bankrupt.

His whole life is littered with revenge, blackmail, sexual offending, bullying, lies, bribes, cover ups, etc etc etc

There is less than 0% chance he will not become worse now he also knows he is immune.

Came across this video tonight. A guy I used to work with regularly read The Onion (a satire site), but I always thought it was just a website - I had no idea they had their own Youtube channel too.

The Onion used to be funny. But they started getting acquired by various faceless corporations about a decade ago.

Just to show how much the Americans didn't want Democratic leadership, Trump beat Walz in Walz's home county where he grew up. 49-48%. That's quite telling I think. I mean, I read reports his family voted against him.

He's from a very rural area though, whose residents usually vote for Trump, so I wouldn't read too much into it. The urban centres (think of the Twin Cities) are where most of the voters reside and where Democrats usually do quite well.

Conversely, Trump's own niece Mary voted against him as well - you get this with every politician's family. Hell, for a long time even Jared and Ivanka were Democrats - until after Trump got elected.
