Ah jeeze, the PM's cat is making breaking news headlines on the Herald. Spare me.

It's sad, but my cat was hit by a car and I didn't get on the news!

Fully agree, another 2 inches on news columns wasted. Its good that she has some personality extra stuff, a lot like Bill and his spaghetti pizza's, but if she comments on TV I will spew, thats a bit far

I am wondering if new legislation will be introduced by Labour that the taxpayer funds a year of counselling for all people affected by their pets untimely passing. Perhaps new legislation to extend bereavement leave by 3 days and include pets. :)

Yes, thats on page 3 of the policy document, about one third of the way down, ahead of boring trivia such as trade. :-)

More pressing news, again more important than trade. RMA will soon include cat boundaries for all premises in NZ, fully funded off course!

The Opportunities Party leader asked Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern if her cat was "out and about wandering?" when the accident happened.

"If so does this reflect the value the PM puts on NZ wildlife?" Morgan said.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. It is awful to lose a beloved companion that way.

OK, now you are just being nasty again. I'm genuinely sorry you lost your cat but this kind of petty crap isn't necessary.

He was joking, hence the smiley. It gets a bit tense here, and the last few posts from us have been welcomely light hearted

Good grief, sensitive much. I'm just having a laugh, hence the smiley face and a bit of a poke at Labours ultra socialist policies.

Maybe you should consider a break.

Perhaps Labour needs to fund Rectal foreign object removal surgery as well as humor training in the next healthcare budget.

You joke but under the current law you are allowed to use bereavement leave for a family pet.

I would have thought that some of you would have commented on the John Minto article by now or has he hit the nail on the head especially with his quotes from the IRD

or has it been more fun to try and pick more holes in the new Government before they have had a chance to settle in.  Talk about a cat more interesting?????
