It's really awful to watch. I still can't hardly believe what I am seeing on the news- these people are incredible; the way they weasle around, twisting fact and reality to suit themselves- or try to warp it to Trump's claims and the crazy way Trump acts and the harm he is doing. If I was reading this in a dystopian novel (of which I am a fan) or watching it as a drama on TV I'd think the writer had gone a bit overboard in the creation of their fanciful, evil characters. But no! This is real life! Just like on House of Cards the flag should be hanging upside down! Poor Americans, poor planet. I am tempted to add- failed Trump, Sad!

Because of the complete chaos created by Trump, the conservatives missed cutting funding to the "National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities."

Taxpayers should not be forced to pay for plays, paintings, pageants, and scholarly journals, regardless of the works’ attraction or merit. In the words of Citizens Against Government Waste, “actors, artists, and academics are no more deserving of subsidies than their counterparts in other fields; the federal government should refrain from funding all of them.


I'd wager next year the "National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities." won't be so lucky.

Horrific failure of US democracy and the US media's failure to hold Trump accountable, that he (and other GOP candidates) campaigned so hard against "Obamacare" but had no plans for a replacement, the closer they get to consensus within the GOP about how it should be - the closer it is to the original "Obamacare".

 

Yet Trump's now being all precious about people calling it "Trumpcare".

 

If Ryan / Trump get their way, it's "wealthcare" not "healthcare".

 

 

 

 

But they campaigned on it before the vote, and got voted in. The fact that voters voted for him and not a documented alternative is not a fault of democracy, its a win for the marketing that he provided. Its now a warning for voters in following elections. Caveat Emptor

 

 

Oh - absolute BS they campaigned on "it".  They never had a viable alternative plan - just hot air, hatred of a black president, a female candidate, and the ACA, an appeal to racist filth and a "hard done by" "white working class" - who're being royally shafted by the man they love.

 

The "documented alternative" was the ACA - not perfect, but it was already there.

 

 

 

 

 

 

You cant say that. Yes its all hot air, failing, lies, BS and so on. But his healthcare was one of many policies that he campaigned on, and got the winning votes. It matters not that he is not delivering and he's an idiot, and he had no plans, the voters took him at his word and voted.

UK papers are reporting that the WH has apologised - but a problem remains that Spicer's ludicrous claim was very public, any apology - if indeed there has been one - has been "private" stating things like "intelligence sources say an apology etc..."  I suspect that claims an apology has already been made by the WH are wishful thinking.

 

Making repeated improbable claims that you're being spied on is a classic paranoid delusion experienced by schizophrenics - just saying. Delusions of grandeur are pretty common too, not that you'd think they'd be necessary when you're arguably the most important powerful person in the world.  OTOH perhaps Trump truly believes he's doing a great job.  He looks unhinged too - quite the madman.

Well t isn't a destructive mess as he hasn't done anything. The wall plan hasn't surfaced yet, it wa supposed to have. Bans been banned twice. All he had done is ridicule himself and his cronies, so in fact its been super harmless to date. Its good to see the checks and balances in use

I was acutely aware of Poe's law when I posted link above to DPRK News fake/satirical twitter account.

 

Gizmodo has an article on how the WH propaganda site "1600 Daily" posted a "news" link on their page to the Washington Post article "Trump’s budget makes perfect sense and will fix America, and I will tell you why".

 

So ludicrously dumb you couldn't make it up, the link's been removed, but just to "fact check" Gizmodo - it's archived on the Wayback Machine and 100% true.  That should start Trump's 5th consecutive $3 million weekend at Mar-a-Lago nicely.

He lied to them and when in power he did not "drain the swamp". He's placing his friends - bankers, industry barons - in power.

I think this is being a little unfair to many Trump voters. I don't believe that the enormous number of voters he got are all either racist, sexist, or stupid (however you are correct that he certainly appealed to these people). Most of his votes were from the white working class who felt abandoned by the status quo, and would have voted for anyone campaigning as anti-establishment.

 

Should they have known better? Probably, but I guess they figured things couldn't get any worse for them so voted for the candidate promising change.

 

And while I'm sure many didn't like the idea of a woman president, Clinton's problem wasn't that she was a woman - it was that she was extremely unlikable and represented the status quo that the working class so desperately wanted to get away from.

Clinton did nothing wrong and actually ran a dignified campaign. However, what she underestimated was the impact of the Trump campaign with their lies and no doubt their hacking. Her email server issue was a non event made worse by lies from the opposition.

 

I also believe Russia had a huge negative impact on her campaign as did the FBI Director. Also, the American people were probably getting tired of the Clintons and did want a change, but they will pay for the change they voted for.

 

I think if I was an American voter I probably would have sat this one out.

 

I would use far stronger words to describe Trump than what are posted here...just his rudeness to the German PM was disgusting. I fear much worse to come.
