To the alt-right, liberals having "closed minds" equates to not accepting racism, misogyny, general bigotry etc as valid points for discussion.  The "both sides" dishonest argument.

 

Call me what you like - but those are bottom lines. I don't care if you think that there's a discussion to be had - but because of my "closed mind" on tolerating racism, I'm trying to shut you down.

 

 

What has the Alt-right have to do with anything?

 

Fred are you a member of antifa generally curious?

I stated earlier in this thread - Trumps support comes from a supporter base who see a liberal leaning social and leftie lib leaning mainstream media continuing to moan about an election result and life in general.

 

If you were to see the continuing onslaught of keyboard warriors and mainstream media insinuating that you are clueless, racist, idiotic (to take only a few repeating phrases thrown around this thread), what would you do? You would dig your toes in and double up on that support. That's no different to the person that made the wrong purchasing decision but will continue to stand by it.

 

If the Leftie Libs kept quiet, Trumps support would probably plummet reasonably quickly. At this rate, he will probably do two terms - but his supporters can only take part of the credit. The Libs will have to take the rest. Yes, most of them are good people. They are not as defined in this thread - they are quite the opposite.

You don't understand the Alt-Right at all if that is what you think they are... But as I understand it fertisam has banned discussion on this topic so that is the last thing I will say on it.

It is hard on this thread to express a differing opinion as it is attacked from every angle not that I don't enjoy a good debate but the dog pile and hate directed my way can be exhausting.

 

 

I can understand that. While I disagree with pretty much all your arguments, I respect your right to have a different opinion and think it is valuable to hear. And I do think you have gotten somewhat more of a hard time than was warranted.

Some are Trump like bigots and racists. Some feel there is no option apart from an outlaw. Problem is he is an outlaw. I dont know anyone, or know of anyone who acts like him. Locker room talk and off hands threats are one thing, but by a leader of a country??? Most leaders are statesmen, this guy is hardly a man. Id expect to see him in a cheap bar, nowhere else.

AFAIK the "Antifa thing" doesn't exist in NZ, and in the US was mainly just a convenient label for alt-right trolls to attach to fake news stories that they were using to try and defend the appalling actions of white supremacists.

 

Don't really need an "antifa" in NZ, the white supremacists and alt-right trolls are mainly just a pack of insignificant sad gormless cowards and losers.

What you are suggesting is that people should not speak out on matters they feel deeply passionate about. In fact, they should do precisely the opposite. The more that Trump and the deplorables drag decent human values down, the louder we should protest it. Your argument is tantamount to good Germans keeping quiet about nazi outrages so as not to give Hitler more support. It is an outrageous, stupid and evil twisting of fact and logic.

Nope - I disagree with that.  So-called "leftie libs" make a grave mistake in my opinion if they don't take off the gloves and fight the corrupt Trump administration tooth and nail.  They are truly that bad. The US media is far too easy on Trump.  If any one of the multitude of alleged crimes and morally vile actions of the present administration had been carried out by a Democrat president, it would have been front page news and their support would have plummeted.  For example WTF do you think would have happened if a "coincidence" happened like an Obama reversal of the ZTE ban coincided with a $500 million loan from the Chinese government for a theme park that Obama was investing in as a business on the side? There would have been riots.

There are a few facebook groups in NZ I am personally part of a few but antifa are a violent group in the US there is plenty of video evidence for that alone

Well, I just laugh hard at anybody suggesting I'm "antifa".

 

It means anti-fascist of course, afaik there's no "antifa" organisation in NZ - everybody should be anti-fascist.

AFAIK they're a small and comparatively insignificant group - haven't heard anything about them for a year.

 

I'd suggest that much of the video that was around was "fake news".  I'm sure you know what I mean and will spare me having to "prove" that.
