networkn:BarTender:cyril7: Hi, I normally dont get drawn on political stuff, but honestly, it seems no one hacked anything, instead Labour whom seem asleep at the wheel left it hanging, knowingly or not, for anyone interested to have a butchers at. They have no one to blame except those IT staff responsible for their tech, and presumably any officers in control of those staff.
Cyril
So ya know you left your front door open.. had a good look around your house and took lots of photos before I left. Then I announced your fetish for master filters. That's all your fault and I don't need to take any responsibilities for my actions and consequential activities I did afterwards. I absolve all responsibility because you left your front door open.
And if he came out into the public arena complaining you had done so, he would be getting exactly as much sympathy as Labour is getting now (none from anyone with more than 3 brain cells), and about as much mocking for being so stupid.
cyril7:I had believed that people within positions of power should behave better than that. Sad you don't share that view.
Yes I agree, but this is politics, history is littered with underhanded crap that comes out at election time, watergate anyone
Cyril

IANAL but I am fairly sure entering a persons house is still breaking and entering. Much like there are laws around unauthorised access of a computer. Yes Labour techs were complete muppets for their lax security. Certainly doesn't justify what WhaleOil did, nor does it excuse that one of the senior National staffers and their IT support were in on it too.

National hacking /entering into labours computer is absolutely nothing compared with the intent for which the data was used.
Just about every smear campaign you have heard in the last few years seems to have come through this channel.
OIA data hurried through, fed to slater in advance, smear campaign results, Govt denies any link.
As for Cactus Kate and Slater working to leak opponents address details to chinese businessmen who were known to physically harm people " chop chop", that's way way more than politics.
In a democratic country it is something that intelligent people should raise concerns otherwise we might as well be China or Russia.
Please explain where the stupidity comes in or do I have a different version of the book to you ?

National don't really need to smear Labour, Labour seem intent on ensuring they aren't in power again (Thankfully) for a long time by simply opposing for the sake of it. They seem lost and confused and internally conflicted. Hardly who I consider reasonable to ru(i)n a country.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Geektastic:
Yawn. It's just politics and frankly I have no doubt all parties do all kinds of stuff. Hager isn't trustworthy enough for me not to double check if he told me it was raining.
Anything that keeps Labour out is justified in my view in any case.

This has little to do with one party having a go at another, it's about a huge amount of blackmail and a certain group who enable this, professionally.
have you actually read this book ?
KiwiNZ: NZ would be a better place if Dotcom left and took Slater and Hager with him

To be honest I expected better from you, not sure why but I did.
If you have been living in a country where the national dialogue has been directed via a few vicious bloggers that then gets picked up main stream media then it's quite easy to believe exactly what you have said. However if you actually try and read what's going on across the political divide you would see there is a very clear negative narrative going on lead by Slater. Something I have seen well before the book came out, however the book does clear up the depths it goes to.
Education is the best weapon against ignorance. You of all people I would have thought would understand that. Sadly I am wrong.
