For instance, this will likely work. But I am not 100% on the strict-ness? on 'contains ' vs 'matches' or if it likes wildcards

Ive been marking mine and its dropped off. Do any other email providers not get spam? Seems BAU to me

For a couple of other ones, including orcon free - Once every 5-6 months if unlucky. And even then it's usually flagged and filed for later attention rather than inbox..

Ive been on Xtra (Yahoo) since Aug 2007. I know as I was involved. Spam issues. Mark them, sorted. Not saying that SMX could have done better, but spam is normal. Mark them.

I put in.... if the headers contain slai.win....discard. Its saved . did not say anything. did not work. ? just thought it was not working. Any other ideas ?

Press the Mark as Spam button. It will train to that. I gather that SMX hasn't bern up with that as soon as it should have been, but it works for me. A more then few every day is now just a few, max

Incase it was missed earlier - I don't need to be educated how to deal with them or belittled to suggest otherwise, nor am I the one claiming financial losses in doing so.

What I am continuing to do is make others aware of incase it helps them in the crudshow of a seemingly simplistic fix yet hard to do journey - hell, every other forum thread is a moan about CGA or phone spam or non cheap broadband plans. So no compelling reason not to do the same here.

I've been doing what they ask and flagging in webmail since the 'outbreak to some users' they claim began.

But there is a difference with flagging and soon learning filtering without user intervention, and delivering unmarked ones 4-10 a day and relying on users to continue to do so when there are slap in the face similarities weeks after they start.

You can't say spam is normal and marking is working well if users can create their own effective rules after delivery. And are rejected in sending them straight back through the same system doing the delivery. Sure, there are less. But 3 weeks on the same flags are being presented. I'd classify it normal if I saw at least _1_ example in the other 9 free service accounts, but there isn't any.

Sure, I4free (yes its still alive) is the only one that does, but that's because it doesn't spend CPU time doing filtering for users and is basically a big abandoned hackathon box

And I'm not sure why people keep bringing longevity into it. There are people who have been with them a year getting these examples. Not a lot to do with length or how exposed your account is. When did they dish out Free start packs to install and jump on and sign up with their modem dialler software and later turn into jetstart 128K and supply CDs and suggest M1122s? Pre 2001?

Cause whenever it was, I signed up beforehand too.

You would at the least be better to activate move to spam rather than reject. At least if there is some analysis happening (tui?) in that box it's better than a black hole (and it would see if its working by moving them there since it can't seem to automatically...)

I like the tui reference - I'm not convinced the mark-as/move-to spam is working well enough to be confident automating it via a webmail filter yet. The junk filter on Thunderbird seems to be doing a better job of recognizing the unwanted stuff; then again, I've been training it for a few years now, not quite long enough to reach the pre-Yahoo days, but still measurable in years.

Apologies, I wasnt suggesting that you needed educating. My experience is that SMX have failed to act early, but are now. I haven't been getting these excellent spams for long, just a couple of weeks. Marking has helped a lot

To me spam is normal, whether that be letterbox, phone calls from India (I dont get those but the odd one from Hong Kong on my mobile), The Melissa Love Letters from years ago, Russian brides. Its the new crime. IIRC, spam is the heaviest email volume globally. Thee days there are plenty of people that are gullible, or more correctly, not IT literate, so a great market. One day, spam will all but disappear.

People who have negative views and say spam is normal I ignore and resist the temptation to say go read posts earlier on where Spark says the problem is being worked on with their suppliers and may be some weeks away. Likewise I already mark as spam !

You mean me? Spam is normal, you must know that. Ive already said SMX have not acted when it started. Spam far exceeds standard email. Yes, its a bummer, but its not that bad. And it will stop. My main issue is where are my false positives? That means more to me

first spam arrives 7 30 to 8 30am so as I had deleted it and reimputed it I will see if it works. If it does not work as is I will make the change before the lunch spam (about 11 30am.

And not sure if the timestamps are being spoofed too or its simply massive delivery delays. But like the one I just got now, have had a few backdated from current - this one from the 10th April! 0.o

But show in the box as current delivery time so *shrug*
