Big shout out to Maxine for taking time out of their busy day to help fix this.
So, I've got this shiny new Ultra 2 on my wrist and it's waiting to talk to the world...
Rookie mistake. ;)
I've purchased and been through 3 x new Apple Watches (cellular) in the hope of Vodafone getting eSIM working.
Oh I feel you there. I am only on watch two but I feel like it's getting close. I've noticed that there is a companion option in the One app ow but nothing shows up if you select it. I guess they are just waiting on Apple to do their part now.
Looks like an update might be coming soon:

Yay! That's my watch in the middle... ;-)
I volunteer my time on here, and all opinions expressed are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer.
Woohoo!! I'm pretty excited.
Is there anything I should do to prepare or will it just start working in the app?
It should just start working in the Watch App on your iPhone under Mobile where you should be able to add it (this is where you can also see data usage and set permissions on what apps can use mobile data).

That is excellent news! Thanks for letting us know.
Link not overly helpful as talks about the watches > the plans. I have a One phone contract provided through work, but I wouldn't ask them to pay for the watch connection. Is it possible to have that as a stand alone contract?
Mrs B will be pleased to have her watch on cellular too as she tends not to take phone with her when running (I usually have to because of work).
Thanks for the update and good news :-)

I wonder how long it too Apple to sign off that press release🫣 The last paragraph is interesting, it would almost have you believe the Apple Watch will be connected to the super speedy 5G network…hmm. Regardless, great to have another carrier providing service for the Apple Watch. Now who will be the first to support Family Sharing? (kids Apple Watch being tied to a parent's phone without the need for its own connected iPhone).

alasta: The press release refers specifically to series 9 and Ultra 2. Will it work on older models?
Yes, "and will work for any Apple Watch Series 4 or newer with a compatible iPhone XS or later."
