Another LinkedIn one. People who appropriate someone else's story, post it verbatim and end up getting lots of "oh, so sorry", "we are praying for you" - and of course Likes. Because that's the grift. The more likes, the more their account gets amplified.

And I see people that I thought intelligent enough to not fall for this crap clicking the Like buttons.

For example, this story. Baby Charlotte does have cancer and was treated. But this was a story from 2020, with a family that's not related to "Rashawn". But that won't prevent a post that is just a copy and paste - because not even pronouns or dad's name were changed in the story. But who cares? He gets lots of Likes and support from dumb people who aren't intelligent enough to smell a rat.

And LinkedIn is full of this now. Anything to get some clicks and make a profile. The grift is strong.

Reminds me of someone who was doing the wallaby trapping programme on Mt Ngongotaha. It was something like "We need to catch all the stoats first, because wallabies won't go near the traps when stoats are nearby. And we need to catch all the possums before that, because stoats won't go near the traps when possums are nearby."

I understand you're a cat carer (no one really owns a cat). Are you concerned about the cat(s) eating poisoned mice?

There are mechanical ways to kill mice and rats and that's what traps are for. Are you concerned about stray outdoor cats hunting and killing endangered species of songbirds?

There are good reasons not to use poison on rodents. One is to protect animals that might prey on them. Another is to keep them from crawling into a hole in the attic to die, and leaving a foul stench that can't be located and removed.

The risk is fairly low even if you have a cat that'll actually catch mice.

LinkedIn idiots and how you get to see their comments on other people's posts.

There's a woman who posted a few weeks back a video of her playing the piano in her underwear (and it seems more and more women are appealing to this kind of thing to get more "followers"). Most comments were men asking for her to send them private messages or phone number.

Today I saw this same person posted a picture with the comment "Please Like My Picture". I saw the post because an idiot (my connection) commented "Great post Mariam, Keep sharing great insights :)"

Great insights? She didn't post ANY insight. She posted a revealing picture and asked for followers. It's a trap.

There are a bunch of thirsty people on LinkedIn.

Was. That's what it started as years ago, before they decided they needed to expand their mission and drive engagement by leveraging the synergy of the [blah blah blah]. It's one of those things that had pretty much covered its niche about five years ago but had tons of money flying around that no-one knew what to do with, and still doesn't.

Daughter and family going to Rhodes for a holiday. Etihad is charging them an extra $120 so the three of them can sit together on the plane in the same row. If they don’t pay it they can be seated anywhere. Pretty pathetic.

That sort of thing bugs me too - it sounds petty. However maybe they chose Etihad because the fare was competitive or cheapest. If it was $120+ cheaper than other fares, they may still be better off.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Why don't new phones come with a screen protector already applied?!!!

Maybe they know how much of a PITA it is to apply one! (Especially when you only have one "fully functioning arm" to do it!!!!

Pay for 2 people to select seats, and select seats with one empty between them. If someone gets allocated that seat, they will be happy to swap with the third person.

My Samsung Galaxy S10+ is still sporting it's factory supplied and fitted screen protector.
