Yeah the pumps have done an amazing job by the sound of it and they are walking stretches that had been submerged.

One report I read about the pumping was they were dropping the water level by about 10cm/hour. They did a test and turned them off for 12 minutes and it rose by about 10cm.

Wow, IOW if they hadn't installed those pumps it would be all over rover by now. Hope they have backups and secure power supply.

I thought it said the test showed it rose 30cm during that hour?

I think they were saying that prior to the rescue starting they had lowered the water level 30cm.

Must be, cant find the article but it was before that 30cm statement

Closest I can find is "He also said that when teams had stopped pumping water for 12 minutes during the day on Friday, the water level in the cave rose by 10cm."

And "The Governor said that a short, 12 minute test had been conducted that saw the pumps expelling water from the caves shut off. The water level rose a full 10cm in that time. Earlier in the week, authorities said that when the pump was on water levels were decreasing by about 10cm an hour."

So, they can reduce the level by 10cm per hour, which is effectively pumping out 60cm, as it is filling at 50cm per hour. When they had rain, it rose by 10cm even with pumping. Its not all underwater, about 1km, and 3km walking either on dry ground or head above water. With the rescue done so far I assume they can manage more water to a degree. More diving (which has worked) and less walking.

Batman:

Who supplied the life saving pumps?

Does it matter?

The life saving divers are about 2/3 international and 1/3 local (No US as it happens)

The life saving coordinators and decision makers are I assume an international and local mix

The life saving oxygen tanks, not sure of the brand

The life saving pumps, not sure of the brand, I expect they are local

The life saving resoluteness of the affected cavers is local

EDIT The life saving deities or supernatural or natural powers that people have been praying to - probably universal.

Does any of the whole entire thread's discussions matter?

You forgot to mention The deities or supernatural or natural powers that people have been praying to - probably universal.

Probably the military, they'll probably just be high volume pumps, not special.

I think you went overboard with your response. There are lots of curiosities that pop up in a rescue like this.

I didn't read his question the way you did.

I read the question that the issue revolved around life saving pumps, as if that's all that matters. Add to the fact that does it really matter who supplied them, given that's its well known that there is a large international and local effort. The issue is the rescue, not the finer detail

I think you are being overly harsh. Different people find different things interesting in any given situation. My FIL is a vastly experienced commerical diver (1000+ dives) and was interested in the technical side as well. Doesn't mean they don't care about other factors.

Heres an interesting question I think.

There is a choke point in the rescue, said to be 30 ish cm in size. Is there some reason they couldn't make that hole bigger? Even making it 50% bigger would be a lot safer I'd imagine.
