Love the picture with it being used on a PCB in the listing. These are pretty lousy devices to use as they lack the time control that the proper ones have, they just seem to dump a capacitor into the probes when pushed in and rely on it to limit the time.

There's a ton of these things out there, and an equally large number of YT videos on building and using them. They're meant for spot-welding nickel strips, not more typical welding.

I'm surprised no-one here has commented on the 95 year-old lady zapped by a cop Taser. Apparently she hobbled at the cop in a walking frame brandishing a knife and he felt so threatened by that he had to bring her down. She is now receiving end of life care.

If ever there was a W*F, it must be a manly cop in his prime using deadly force on an elderly woman creeping towards him in a walking frame! Why the hell didn't he just back up and let her wave the knife around until she fell asleep? Of course I don't know all the details of this bizarre story but I find it hard to imagine that a weapon was his only recourse in the situation. Couldn't he have just thrown a blanket over her? Or just stepped out of the way and let her carry on? Is he a robocop who can only shoot people who defy orders? W*F indeed.

p.s.: Why the Foxtrot is the abbreviation W*F censored in a thread named Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? I don't quite see the logic of that.

You missed the two important points "dementia" and "nursing home". If staff in these homes have problems with dementia patients becoming violent the typical response is to call the police because they have no-one in-house trained to deal with them, because oldie farming is a lucrative business provided you invest the bare minimum in it. The police get a call about a violent patient wielding a knife and respond appropriately, because they're also not trained to deal with dementia patients.

It's the other way round, the thread is called Whiskey Tango Foxtrot because it's not possible to write W*F.

Surely even the New South Wales police can employ common sense in situations like this? I guess he thought he was practicing restraint by not actually shooting her!

Dementia is suggested to be a key here. I doubt you could talk any sense into her.

That does not, however, explain why the cops thought they couldn't disarm someone using a walking frame safely without what looks likely to be a fatal injury.

Ordered some accessories from Goodnature for my rat trap. Dispatched from Welington Central to Masterton 17/5 using NZ National Networks (not heard of them). Arrived at their depot in Masterton 18/5. It was then passed to NZPost for the final mile....................

Next tracking entry.....

Tried to picture the situation of a frail old lady holding the walking frame with TWO hands otherwise impossible to move it, so the knife was in one hand therefore she was either stationary waving a knife, or holding both the knife and pushing along with her walker. She would have to stand still to stab someone with it if they were close. A long handled grabber or the end of a broom could have knocked it out of her hand if it was so threatening. Speedy escape of a gun wielding crim wasn’t an issue.

Could she in her demented state have set her sights on getting some fruit to peel, or returning the knife to the kitchen? So many things to wonder about. Of course when a story reads she was armed with a knife rather than holding or carrying a knife to the kitchen it makes more of a threatening to police and staff story.

They must release the body cam footage to the family and it needs a lot more explanation. I’m sure the facility also has cameras everywhere to keep an eye on the inmates.

Go to either Bunnnings or M10 to look for 3x2 and type in 70x45 for the search, you get a pile of results for "75x50" (as well as some 150x50). Type in "75x50" for the search and get no results.

(And yes, I know about timber sizing, but it's both confusing and non-orthogonal in terms of search results).

My Whisky for The Fox for today was discovering that the dead mouse smell in my HWCupboard wasn’t a dead mouse. Instead it was crispy black cabling and switch from the numbnuts that installed a 10A PCU as the switch for HWC. On what planet was that going to work for a 30A element.

Usually PCUs are 16-20A and HWCs are 13A. 30A would be rather unusual.
