Does anyone know when I can actually play it (PSN version) The timer says 4:48 but is that just till the pre download feature is activated or the whole game?

Destiny is out in September right? So that must mean the game can be downloaded and played right after the timer expires?

So what are peoples first thoughts?

No spoilers of course… here are mine for the PC version.

I’m only an hour and a half in let it be said, but sadly it seems clear the PC edition is a console port. The one thing I’m really struggling with at present is the mouse movement. It’s as if the mouse inputs go through some sort of buffer, whereby initial movements are slightly slowed, then they reach ‘normal’ responsiveness, quite like a controller would operate. This usually means you over exaggerate, then find yourself having to move back, but that initial change is slowed too... Unless I’m missing a setting, it’s definitely not a direct 1 to 1 ratio which it should be, and it’s causing me issues at present.

Aside from the very first mission you’re on when you start, all my game play was just what happened around me spontaneously. From that perspective there will be a ton of stuff to do!

Graphically very impressive indeed. I wish you could pull the camera back a little however. When you’re profiling people in a small space there’s so much info on screen it’s a little claustrophobic. A few times the voice overs in cut scenes have been glaringly out of sync with facial movements also…

Driving is a little weird, definitely not as instantly friendly as GTA for eg… There are driving skills to earn so I’m hoping that by ploughing some points into driving, the cars will behave better. At present tho it’s practically impossible to avoid pedestrians at this early stage, they’re as free range as Wellingtonians on Lambton Quay which translates to a constant police presence when I drive. I’m doing a lot of running :-)

So yeah, it’s hard to tell from just 90 mins but it’s not playing ‘intuitively’ to me yet, but then neither did Hitman Absolution or Splinter Cell Conviction, my last two 3rd person games. In fact I only really got comfortable with Hitman AFTER I’d finished it, and replayed most levels again.

I hear there’s a long weekend coming up tho, looks like I could use some more practice.

The slow down your experiencing could be related to your graphics card.  There's a lot of complaints online about this game pushing the limits of your card and overheating issues I know with a game like this you probably want to run it as high as your card can handle but you may need to lower the settings a little.  Also talk of trouble for people with crossfire x enabled on their gfx cards too.

I have the PS4 version and I played for about 3 hours last night. I am not that impressed honestly. Graphics on the PS4 hardly seem next gen to me. Gameplay is a little .... off. I like the fact you can attack a problem lots of ways.  So far maybe 7/10.

I was watching a Twitch stream a couple days ago of this game, we figured out that it wasn't V-Sync causing the issue (this is what normally causes a small input lag as it will only process your input on a full frame)

What you're actually describing sounds like a mouse dead zone issue.  Dead zone is used to  prevent analogue sticks on a controller from making you slowly drift one way if they're not 100% centered, this is a helpful feature but not at all for a mouse.  Try find the dead zone settings if there is any and set it to zero.  If you can't find any in the settings, it may be located in an .ini file.

UPDATE: maybe I'm not entirely correct... check here http://www.gamersnexus.net/gg/1473-watch-dogs-mouse-acceleration-lag

I got this off the Gameplanet forum relating to mouse acceleration -

For Windows 7) Go to "C:\Users\UserName\Documents\My Games\Watch_Dogs\*\GameProfile.xml" (Or figure out where GameProfile.xml is stored in your PC) and open this GameProfile.xml in text editor like Notepad."

In '<GameProfile....</GameProfile>' change "Sensitivity=" to 1, "UseMouseSmooth=" to 0 and also set "Smoothness=" to 0.

Hopefully that does the trick. Will try tonight.

@jtbthatsme - as for PC specs, I have an Alienware 18 with dual 780GTX cards. Frame rates are fine running everything on Ultra @ 1920x1080 but I'll play with more settings if the above fix doesn't help.

I've played a few hours on PC, its not matching the hype but still an ok game with some obvious issues. Such as driving which is painful and the AI which isn't that smart (background dialog is pretty limited as well).
Story/GFX seem pretty solid so far although.

PS4 edition here. Not very impressed with the download experience I had. Had to cancel my preorder as it wouldn't go from pre order to actually be able to play it. The actual game itself isn't that bad but it needs to be fixed up in some areas. And there's also some lag while driving my car which is quite unexpected as it's locked to 30fps and not 1080p

All downloaded, unlocked and installed fine here on the 27th on PC version - bought my key from GetGamesGo for US$45

Performance:

I am definitely suffering from the stuttering issues many are experiencing when on "ultra" settings throughout - seems especially bad when driving, so seems to be related to asset streaming more than anything. Haven't really experimented much with other settings yet.

Specs: 2500k @ 4.5, 8Gb RAM, GTX780 3Gb, Crucial M500 SSD (more than meets the required spec...)

Gameplay:

Meh...

Its Ok I guess. Rather po-faced and serious and I can't summon any empathy for the story or emotional aspects it strives for. Hacking is sort of fun for a while, but as a mechanic it only amounts to "press X here to make stuff happen". I haven't had any issues with the driving or foot controls, but I am using a controller and not keyboard or mouse (why anyone would use a keyboard to drive is a mystery to me!)

It seems to lack the sense of fun or joyous anarchy of GTAn nor does it deliver the atmosphere of something like Red Dead - both games I would rate much higher overall.

The world does feel superficially "alive" but cracks do show the longer you roam around. Combat and vehicular violence lack satisfactory weight and feel, but suffice and the physics engine is similarly "sufficient" without achieving greatness.

Honestly, I don't see myself playing it all that much, but I will try to get stuck in this weekend.

Don't get me started! I wanted to turn into a side street so I stopped, waited for the guy to cross, then started driving in and the pedestrian saw me and jumped *back* - right into the place I was driving. Naturally he got hit... serves him right :p

Lots of people are saying the driving is bad but I don't think that at all, seems fine to me. What are you comparing the driving to? GTA?

It does seem like a lot of these complaints are coming from people using mouse/keyboard...

Well, Not a bad game but i wouldnt have paid as much as i did for it in my opinion. Its a roughly bad console port. Feels like far cry 3 and same with AC black flag. (That they all use the same engine) I cant stand the mouse smoothing and keyboard maps. Climbing ladders is very buggy and chance is the best way to describe it.

Driving: good
Combat: Average and sluggish, (Mouse smoothing stuffs it up with auto aim for PC.)
Story: Predictable and didnt keep me entertained
Input/Controls: Not very friendly on PC and quite difficult. Plugged in xbox controller for driving and general play and then swap to mouse keyboard for shooting.
I would say 6-7/10

I would not dare buy it on PC. Graphics are bad at night and would like more deformation of terrain and vehicle.

If I wanted to use a controller, I'd own a console. I don't.

In actual fact Ubisoft state the game was designed on PC and ported to Console so how they got the mouse acceleration so wrong I don't know. V-Sync settings and setting Max Buffered GPU frames to 1 are next on my to try list.
