#1 Telecom XT - Will have 100% 3g Coverage when in Telecom Coverage running on 850mhz and Data Plans #2 Vodafone - You will only have 3g Coverage when in Big City's running on 2100mhz and 2g else where with the iphone not supporting vodafones extended 3g 900mhz network. They have realivtly the same Data Plans as XT
#3 2Degrees - 2G Only ATM although if you are on 2degrees network (not roaming on Vodafones) you will get EDGE which is faster than vodafone 2g. Data is EXPENSIVE at $0.50c /mb and no data plans
iPhone 2g (OLD Silver Back one)
Vodafone 2g would provide data plans.
2Degrees would be faster if you use there own network running on Edge but once again expensive at $0.50c /mb
iPhone is designed to be always online. It's possible to block data by loading the custom carrier file from iPhonewzealand (http://iphonewzealand.co.nz) and changing the APN to be invalid.
I didn't realise the iPhone was HSDPA 850/1900/2100. If that is true for the NZ iPhones (guess it is...) that makes them *really* a Telecom XT phone outside of most towns.....as Vodafone's long-range / low-density UMTS frequency is 900.....not 850.
I didn't know that about the iPhone. Still not sure I do know it...despite checking the Apple web site. No wonder they are on AT&T in the US (UMTS 850 and another).
