Simbosan: I will be moving back to Telecom soon, I can see. Disconnections at peak traffic times, lousy download speeds, game pings that veer wildly between 200 - 800 all the time. At least with Telecom ping remained constantly round the low 200's.
This extra international bandwidth, I have noticed no difference.
Really Orcon is rubbish. I only hope that people read this forum before trying Orcon.
As for service, you complain, they ask you to do batteries of tests. Nothing happens. All they do is give you meaningless tasks to do so that you are kept off their backs. They know the problems already

Kyanar: I've had it with "best effort service" meaning "we can deliver sub-par crap and you can't do anything about it" from every blasted provider in this country.
insane: Your SLA with your data centre will be what 99.98% or maybe 99.99%? uptime (depending how they come up with their % rating) ie 5 to 10 minutes of downtime a month, and I'm confident upon breach of that SLA you won't be credited your full months bill, perhaps only a part of it. And for that connectivity you fork out a lot more per month that you would on DSL.
I agree that you shouldn't have to chase up a job though.
corksta:
I don't know, I would have thought that with so many unhappy people on here complaining of similar issues for such a long time they would have been a bit more concerned, then again I suppose we probably represent a small percentage of their total customers who may not notice the things that we notice. I guess it might only matter to them when we start telling friends and family to avoid them.

Bingo!
I've already told quite a few customers not to even consider Orcon when thinking about a new ISP.
The only reason for anyone to want to join Orcon in my opinion now, is the no contract (and even thats subjective to 30days notice).
Let us know how you find your Telecom connection! I am very quite interested.
Also, what plan did you move in to (Not trying to deviate from discussion, just thinking of alternatives)
