On the first hop outside your network so not the same issue.

Can you post modem stats and watch your traffic counters on it to check you are not flatlining the connection?

We have ample bandwidth so congestion isnt a contributing factor to the quality issue. Our provider has come back saying that they have recovered one link, and the next should be back up shortly. Thanks for your patience!

Update: Service is fully restored to the primary path. Latency should be back to normal for this route.

I got connected to Slingshot Unlimited as my backup internet connection 3 weeks ago and so far I've been pretty damn impressed. My primary connection is Telstra cable but in the past 3 weeks of being connected to Slingshot I've had zero outages and the speeds have been consistent, unlike Telstra with 2 outages and the complete disaster that was their free weekend. My cable connection has been down for the past 4 hours and counting, my router is currently directing traffic over the Slingshot link. Another plus is that when I've called up their tech support I've spoken to someone within a minute, unlike Telstra's 30-40 minute wait times.

Now I just need the connection speed to be fixed up and everything will be great, I'm only connecting at 6.5 Mb/s (I used to get around 12Mb/s with xtra) - but that's still 6.5Mb/s faster than my Telstra cable connection at the moment and I believe it's been handed to Chorus to look at.

Good to hear :)

Sounds like your ADSL line has a basic (minor) line fault dry join somewhere maybe not to much of a major issue but if not treated it will become worse. Good to here its been looked into :)

In regards to the TCL outages 2 in one week do you know what they were?

Thanks
Bevin

I'm going to have my electrician look at the cabling on my side of the demarcation point when he comes to fix some other stuff early next month, so maybe that might make a difference. AdrianD is also migrating my connection to EUBA to see if that improves things.

My cable ended up being offline from around 8pm last night to 7am this morning, one of the longer outages I've had with them (although not the longest, 36 hours about 2 weeks after I connected with them). I've also actually had 3 outages with them in the past 3 weeks, I had a 10 minute outage yesterday morning as well, and in the past 3 months I've had 8 outages of at least 1 hour in length. When I rang them last night they claimed it was a power outage in my area but I couldn't find any reports of it on Orion's website who are usually pretty quick to report outages.

Cool, let us know how you go with the wiring.
With eUBA you should see some improvement its a overall better service then bUBA in my eyes.
