I got a GTX950M in my laptop and a 5500U I7 with 12GB ram and it is crappy haha.

You should try turning off the sky effects, that appears to improve things for a lot of people.

Good call, I just set everything to off and low and i got 40~ FPS on my laptop but it wasnt that playable.

Fully wasnt in the mood to try and figure out how to feed them and build bases and i kept getting killed.

We need to make a Geekzone server!

My wife and I have about 1600 hours between us. Obviously enjoy it a lot, but we still haven't gone into the caves yet, we are playing on a Official PVE server, server community had been pretty good tho it changes a bit and there is one guy who enjoys trying to set people against each other, I guess you get that kind of behavior wherever you go on the interwebs.

Was playing PvP with some friends at one point, we were on an official server but there was a group of 'overseas' players who used every hack and glitch possible to make everyone's lives miserable, we then went to a private server hosted in Aussie that was a bit better but the server owner had a massive rage/quit moment with some of the more fanatic Ark players (he also ran a Rust server on the same box) and basically deleted the Ark server off it. Started playing PvE with the missus as thats what she enjoyed, though I do miss 3xtame speeds on private servers! The only other mod that I remember was the Glass steel one which was pretty sweet. This game has massive possibility for modding, I see someones already done a Pirate full conversion mod and there are sure to be many more. Custom islands are something I am looking forwards to.

Those who complain abut performance - lets just say unless you were playing back in July 15 you dont know what poor performance is - the game has improved immensely since then. I am running fairly high detail (lower on the sky and ground clutter sliders though) with a 4 year old i5 CPU , 8 gig RAM but have got a newish GTX970. I personally don't mind that I don't run at a constant 60fps.

Wow that makes me with my 270hrs look like a noob, yes my server (NZ-HAKTV8) has 5x tame, xp, and harvest and its great, the caves are fun you should gather some gear and try them out, best not to take you best gear as its harder to get back if you die and get stuck, another good way is to tame a few birds and take them in with you, there are a couple of caves that you can just fly all the way through to the end artifact its so much fun, would also recommend you take some stimulant as most things in them put you to sleep.

Its hard in terms of PVE when I started we played most of the content PVE and it was great for a while but you start to realize that some of the PVP aspects are fun, though I am a firm believer that offline raiding of peoples bases should be disallowed, as people play in different timezones and not everyone has a massive tribe, this is part of our server rules, so if anyone breaks them I would want to know.

I may look at a different island at in the distant future if we do a server reset and start over, glass house stuff was added to the game recently I personally have not tried it but it would be nice to have some windows in you base that dont require closing so will look into this after testing the glasshouse stuff.

To be honest I have not played RUST but did compare it along with a bunch of other games before deciding on Ark, one of the reasons I went with Ark was I had friends playing it, from the reviews I saw of RUST vs Ark, most people were saying Ark is better but you need a computer that can handle it, its a very pretty game on the high settings.

I guess the other difference I can see is that Ark is more about Dinos than Guns, I find myself using a metal pike more than a shotgun, or assault rifle, being ableto tame and ride/fight with Dinos is also awesome!
