If you haven't already, I'd suggest you guys check out the AbyssICS kernel; it's super-smooth, and is giving me great battery life. . . . .Despite the 18 different clock steps!! The dev has his own governor too (Abyssplug), which is working really well for me.

Yes, running 11.3.1 and very happy!

The 'bug' with LP9 is only with the stock kernel IIRC, so as long as you swap this out, you're golden.

The CM9 camera and I are having irreconcilable differences and must part our ways. ;)

Anybody got recommendations for a Samsung based rom with ICS theming? I'm quite happy to go back to Omega, but would like to try something else for a change. Not worried if it has bloat, I remove almost all Samsung apps anyway.

Wannamlite? Any particular reason?

To be completely honest, Wanamlite is the only ICS ROM I've used since jumping from GB, and I chose it based on feedback, and also because I don't like OTT/cartoony-looking ROM's like Omega etc. Each version of WanamLite is smoother than the last, and I like the fact you can remove/re-arrange the notification toggles too (very handy given that JKay's Mod is still in development).

Based on the short time I've been testing the 11.3.1 + AbyssICS kernel, I'd say that smoothness, stability and batterylife are easily as good as the best of the GB ROMs.

something interesting to report - on omega 9 and siyah 3.1

after running for about a week or less it will start heating up like pre-explosion type heating and restart it and it's ok. the first sign is high battery drain during perfect sleep ...

nzgeek: The phone gets its APN settings from /system/etc/apns-conf.xml. It appears that most of the NZ networks have settings in here, but Skinny doesn't.

If one of you Skinny users is feeling brave, I've got an experimental updated APN list that should contain Skinny's settings. It's available as a CWM zip package, so you'll need CWM recovery to install it. The zip file can be downloaded here. Note: this is completely and utterly untested. It might clobber your apns-conf.xml file, but won't affect anything else. Use at your own risk!

Flashed ok, but did nothing. Once I rebooted the APN didn't magically appear. Going to have a tinker shortly.

Now running Wannamlite v11.3.1, LP8 kernel (as supplied). Running pretty well so far. Only had to freeze a couple of apps, it's very clean. :)

Nofam, so do I flash the ROM, then immediately flash the kernal over it before rebooting?

EDIT I am using the ROM that Lee is using above with LP8 but I was referring to the Abyss kernal

Nofam, so do I flash the ROM, then immediately flash the kernal over it before rebooting?

13.3.1 comes with an LP8 kernel. No issues at all with that kernel after flashing the new rom yesterday.
I'm guessing 13.3 had the LP9 kernel, hence the quick update.

Edit: Lol! Your edit beat my post. I normally let a rom reboot before installing a new kernel, but don't see why you can't just flash the new one before that.
