Just got this:

Thank you for your continued support at UnoTelly. My name is Nicholas Lin, and I’m the founder of UnoTelly.

On February 3rd, 2016, Paypal has severed payment processing agreement unilaterally and without prior warning. Paypal indicated that UnoTelly is not allowed to provide services that enable open and unrestricted Internet access.

As result, UnoTelly can no longer accept payment from Paypal. This development is outside of our control, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

If you believe in an open Internet and value the services UnoTelly is providing, I hope you would continue your subscription by updating your payment method from Paypal to credit card.

I wouldn't think it was in their interest (Netflix) to shut down the likes of UnoTelly et al.

Wow, surely Unotelly isn't doing anything illegal - so the actions of Paypal is disgusting if you ask me. Will have to see what I can do to stop using Paypal as much as possible for other kinds of payments as well.

Makes me question whether I should be using Paypal. I use it a lot for taking card payments.

Got the same email just now.

I'm kicking myself now for not having bought a whole year package and only 6 months when it was on 1/2 price.

Not having used UnoTelly before (I found out about it on here) I was a bit wary.

It's been nothing short of brilliant since I started using it though, nicely making up for the loss of my Orcon "Global Mode".

How long until Uno get's the email from Visa & Mastercard telling them the games over?

I'd happily pay in BitCoin. :)

Got the same email. Most likely the studios putting the hard word on Paypal . I still pay Netflix via Paypal. If it was Netflix they would stop foreign accounts using Paypal as I do to pay Netflix..

I wonder whether they would do the same for non-US based companies like DNS4Me and Getflix. Wait and see I suppose.

Also what about Hulu will pay pal stop accepting payments for Huku as well.
Also I don't think one should use a NZ credit card for this whether Visa Debit or credit. Doubt if they will allies those eventually. Also all NZ cards are going to run foul of the new GST law.

in saying that doesn't that apply to all VPN services world wide? and other DNS unlock services......

Yes and it would apply to other services. If what paypal are saying was correct you would not be allowed to use any form of encrypted service. I am afraid its the same waffle as they used to stop payments to Assange. Someone in the Corporate world or in US Government are leaning on them

This is what we can expect to happen in NZ when TPP swings into action. Fox or Warner Bros will complain to NZ Government and suddenly you will find it illegal to use VPN's or whatever

Anyway why has Paypal not told us this I would have thought they would tell us that they would no longer honour payments to certain people.

Wait a minute. I got the same email and went to look at my account and I do not use Paypal for this service. In fact I pay direct. Are they that silly they sent a form email to everyone on their books. Surely they could email only those that paid by PayPal?

PayPal did the same to the new Mega this time last year.

Note that this is the new Mega, not the old one. It's business model is different in that the user encrypts files locally before uploading to their cloud.

The security services hate this.

PayPal has appointed itself as the "Judge Dredd" of the internet.
