The statement above is incorrect. There are technical limits that restrict TNZ's capability to port within their network.
glennb: 1) does that same technical limit prevent another provider (TelstraClear) porting that number to any other landline within the local calling area (ie different exchange).As long as it's the same LCA there's nothing preventing an out-port. Whether TCL can accept an in-port, I don't know -- but I don't see why they wouldn't.
glennb: 2) The number I want to port is currently CustomerLink'd (ie exists only in the exchange). Does that fact prevent TelstraClear porting the number to one of their landlines ? or is there a technical requirement for a number to be directly attached to a landline before it can be "moved" using NP from TNZ to TelstraClear ?I don't believe so, but other people who have ported their numbers (including from CustomerLink) may be able to state with more authority.
