freitasm:Indeed, what's wrong with people?
Unfortunately:
The World is now about me! Damn everyone else!
I think some people really are that stupid. They don't like the inconvenience of a dangerous contagious disease so have convinced themselves that Covid is 'just a little flu'. If it's nothing serious, then no harm in spreading it to others.

You'll really only see the bad stories, most people tried to do the right thing, but it's exhausting and mentally draining to constantly be on alert. We have tried our best, but I can also understand why people are over it.
Having said that, I can't see any reasonable excuse for exposing yourself to others if you KNOW you have Covid.
I think ultimately it's the issue of whether you are knowingly exposing others to your COVID that is problematic - when I had it (and the same when my kids had it at different times) we made sure nobody came to visit, we also made sure to abide by the self-isolation and reducing exposure rules, as boring and limiting as they were.
To knowingly put others at risk (knowing that it can affect people very differently) is bad. Very bad. And selfish.

Wow, so after quite a bit of hassle I got my second booster after 3 primary doses.
I can't recall being this sick after a vaccination ever before. I was fine until about 10pm last night. Because of where they jabbed me I think they hit a nerve or something, it hurt like crazy and my shoulder and shoulder blade were sore after only 30 minutes.
10pm last night I start to feel very very average, and by 11pm I was in full on fever, shakes, aches unlike anything I could recall in my recent memory. My head was pounding and I was sweating like crazy. I think I slept maybe 2-3 hours last night. Things seem better 12 hours on, but I still feel weak and pretty poorly. If this is what Covid is like, I feel very justified in my measures to have avoided it until this point. Holy Moly!
Take the symptoms that you have described, multiply the intensity 3 fold and make it last 4 days and you've described my experience of Covid. Keep doing whatever you've been doing to avoid it until now.
afe66: Feeling rubbish post vaccine is good. Your body is releasing all sorts of cytokines because it think it's being invaded.
As opposed to no symptoms at all.... What Antigen, nothing to see here, no immune response
Yeah, I mean I get it, but wowsers, I feel like I got run over. I feel like I played too much sport and my entire body is still aching. Thankfully the fever and the intense pain
in my arm and shoulder is subsiding. Hopefully, I can sleep tonight.

But the immediate reaction to the vaccine doesn't tell us anything about the long term adaptive immune response.
Batwing: Household has tested positive for the first time this morning.
Mild cold symptoms so far.
Unfortunately we were also in ED yesterday with our 5 month old with a severe skin infection from his eczema so it's sort of compounds the risks.
Oh and two asthmatics and a genetic condition affecting the lungs.
Please keep masking, I've got numb to the snide comments from colleagues or funny looks at the supermarket. However if masking was ubiquitous I expect we wouldn't be where we are now.
Sorry to hear your little one isn't well. My advice is to monitor your respiratory symptoms closely, if things are starting to go pear-shaped, don't be brave, contact Healthline immediately. Do you have a GP? May be worth scheduling a call in with them to keep them apprised of your situation.

to be fair , to the vast majority of people it is just a little Flu.To most people the symptons have been minor or non existent and they dont know anyone that has been in hospital or died from it. I have seen both sides with 2 sons who had no symptoms and one who never caught it and myself who had a runny nose for a day and was fine the next day to my wife who was in hospital for 2 days. So to many people Covid is way overrated and not worth getting worried about and they will carry on living life the way they want to.
Common sense is not as common as you think.

Just like a regular flu, some are way more affected by it. I avoid the flu like the plague and have a shot every year, simply because I get massive fevers.
As a kid, I was put into cold baths to cool me, a horrible thing for a kid (though I am grateful now it was done to me) when you feel cold and then someone puts you in cold water. I even ended up in ice at the hospital once!
I've managed to pick up COVID for the first time. Guessing I picked it up at Kendrick Lamar on Friday night. All in all, a great trip to Auckland....
Had the shakes Monday night and zero energy, now just a sore throat. Might be a bit of a quiet Christmas....
