I do not get what Adern and Co. are trying to do here with Manus Island.

Australia created this issue and it is Australia's to deal with. Many times Australia have said a clear NO to us yet Arden doesnt let it go. She has now offered $2.7M to help these people. Why? I dont want Australia's problems here!!

She has created a rift between the 2 countries now. Has she not got enough to do? If she really wanted to help she was standing beside  the Myanmar President quite a lot and did she offer them money as well to assist them in their humanitarian issues?

I also read in todays papers that Treasury are preparing to borrow NZ$billions more than Labour promised to satisfy their appetite for debt.

Stay at home Adern and look after the Kiwis you said you would!!! We are not a wealthy country like Australia.

and PS

Jacinda you looked a bit like a school girl on the diplomatic stage over the last 10 days. If you want to be taken seriously you need to look like a serious diplomat and also earn the reputation.

Australia had caused the rift between our two nations well before Labour came to power. The rift has been developing for 10 years and teh previous Government did nothing to stop it. New Zealanders are treated very badly over the ditch.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

The debt is the spending on promises, which National had to do as well, to A) win the election B) catchup on 9 years of creating artificial surpluses instead of investing in the country. Bill stated that surpluses will reduce, clearly due to both of them having to open the chequebook for a change.

Re Manus, its a humanitarian crisis. US is slow to take what they said they will take. She offered to take some, and a no exit option to Oz, so that does help somewhat. Its a small issue, 150 refugees, blown out of proportion. OZ would love us to help, but they dont want 150 booked on the next flight to SYD

Did Treasury say "to satisfy their appetite for debt" ?

Yawn. What can we dream up today to bash Jacinda with? Maybe she puts sugar in her tea. Bad example for the kiddies and all the fat people. Bad Jacinda. Bad bad bad Jacinda!

I think you seem to think its a dream that she has become PM. Sadly it is true.

The rift I am referring is solely to do with Manus. She was chasing Malcolm every day it seems and every day he avoided her. She also traveled to Aus for a 2 hour "brunch" to discuss Manus and no doubt other issues.

Whilst I agree Australia's treatment of these refugees is disgraceful, I do not understand why all of a sudden it has become so urgent for NZ that we are chasing it daily and also paying almost $3M. She seems to forget that we have people living on the street with no shelter, no electricity and little food. Lets look after our own first especially when it was one of the key election platforms. Time she refocused.

Australia and New Zealand will have to do a lot more with regards to refugees. Climate change is going to create a bit refugee problem in our backyard which cannot be ignored.

A link to where she chased him every day and he avoiding her?

Im sure we pay a lot of money in humanitarian support around the globe. Its fine to say we should focus on our own issues, but wrong to focus on her, as you should be focussing on all those before her who also allowed funds to be sent for overseas help. She could refocus and place a ban on all humanitarian funding, but thats wont do us much good when we are seen to be like that

If English had done what she is doing, the rabid right would be applauding his manliness for standing up to those awful Aussies. At least she is trying.

Rabid Right? I'm more concerned about the Looney Left.

But in some ways, you are quite correct in what you say. Yes, she is trying .......... VERY trying!

She certainly didn't look professional standing besides the other PM's. Whilst it is early days, even Aunty Helen stood up when it counted and show cased NZ designer woman's clothes. If has some ways to go to look the part yet.

Isn't it fascinating how discussions about female politicians always somehow end up being about their appearance? It is both amusing and somewhat disconcerting to witness someone so chauvinistic that he doesn't have a clue he is even being chauvinistic.

Let's talk about Bill, and his crumpled suit, and his outdated codpiece, and oh my god, that tie!

You are correct. Say JA was short fat and frumpy but great as PM. or tall, slim and hot and useless? Its about what gets DONE

My take is what gets done thats good lets not talk about. Manus. Its a VERY VERY small issue, but its the big news here. Joyce I think tried the same, it failed. I think Joyce is a jerk, but he tried so I say good on him, he knew it would fail but he gave it a shot. Its shows the world that we care and try.

Yes you are making it a gender issue, when you talk about her *appearance*, the clothes she wears, and your disapproval of same.

You might want to check who was in power when those initial citizenship changes were made and what they did about it. The answer will shock you!
