At least the military is finally saying what everybody, including Netanyahu, knows.

Kyanar: I truly do not understand why people like that woman, Netanyahu and his Cabinet, and the IDF are not facing sanctions for what is in effect war crimes.
, shouting "antisemitism!" every time someone criticises them. Which is an awful thing to do, both because it cynically exploits and ignores the terrible experiences of the people who have experienced, and continue to experience, actual real antisemitism, and because using it over and over again as an excuse to get away with whatever you want dilutes the term itself, possibly to the point where it loses its effectiveness.

Netanyahu's Likud party MPs have practiced exactly the same thing against their own Jewish political opponents in the Israeli parliament as silly as that sounds. It's nothing new for Likud.

Going back in time a Likud president accused of sexual assault and rapeunpleasantly tried to claim he was a victim of "blood libel" before being convicted and sentenced to jail. His victims were Jewish.

Likud has the most members on a list of convicted Israeli politicians starting with a President and a Prime Minister. There is every chance the current Prime Minister will join that list.

Huge protests continue every week in Israel for elections and an immediate hostage deal:

Times of Israel: Diskin, who led the Shin Bet intelligence agency from 2005 until 2011, called for elections at the earliest possible opportunity.

“For many weeks, I rejected requests to join the protests. Something deep inside me told me that it wasn’t time yet, that maybe it wasn’t right to change governments during a war, and that unity was the most important thing,” Diskin said.

“But I find myself amazed, every day, by the government’s uselessness, the failed management of the war, the lie of ‘total victory,’ the total evasion of responsibility, the destruction of our strategic relations with the United States, and perhaps most of all, missing every opportunity to bring back our kidnapped brothers and sisters, who continue to languish in Hamas captivity in Gaza,” he continued

Norway, Ireland and Spain have now all officially recognised Palestine as a state on the basis of the internationally recognised pre-1967 borders.

Connecting the Israeli recognised Palestinian Gaza Strip to the Israeli recognised Palestinian West Bank requires a connecting road 50km in length to connect the two areas from the river to the sea. I have not heard that proposed recently except perhaps in the well known catchphrase.

Flashback to 1999 when exactly that was proposed by Ehud Barak Labour Prime Minister of Israel.

He responded to critics with "these are necessities of life. Will I do it? For sure. You can't make people disappear just by saying so"

Army hands administrative control of occupied West Bank Area C to Smotrich party ally:

Times of Israel: A senior military general has recently approved the transfer of a raft of legal powers in the West Bank to a civilian administrator, prompting accusations that the government has increased its civil control over the territory in a further step toward de-facto annexation.

That was late last month. The settlement expansion moves since then have been entirely predictable.

The IDF operation in Gaza will be used by armies around the world as an example of how pointless it is to try and defeat an enemy embedded within the resident population.

And then again the IDF probably know that.

This looks promising although Israeli politics does tend to be very shouty with most of the time little change.

A slightly different version of that, never get involved in a land war in Asia urban combat, has been in ever military field manual since WWII.  Ruined cities just soak up troops without end.

Governing party Likud MP moves legislation to allow the Antiquities Authority to operate in the occupied West Bank

Times of Israel: The Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs approved a bill Sunday that aims to expand the powers of the Israel Antiquities Authority into the West Bank, marking a further strengthening of Israeli civilian control over the territory.

The Authority is unfortunately one of many mechanisms used in part to advance Israeli settlements. That might be nice for everyone except for the fact just like a lot of land and development in Israel itself those defined by the state as Israeli-Arab citizens are not permitted to purchase homes there. The non-citizens in the occupied West Bank definitely not.

Palestinians calling Gaza from overseas say Microsoft is suspending Skype and Hotmail accounts:

BBC: BBC News has spoken to 20 Palestinians living abroad who say Microsoft, which owns the voice and video chat app, kicked them out of their accounts. The total number affected is thought to be much higher. In some cases, these email accounts are more than 15 years old and the users have no way to retrieve emails, contacts or memories.

Microsoft says accounts can be suspended for terms of service violations and refuses to give any specific reasons.

Ben-Gvir's beloved outposts in occupied West Bank sanctioned by USA State Department:

Guardian: Matthew Miller, the state department spokesperson, said that the four West Bank outposts specifically targeted by Thursday’s sanctions, “are owned or controlled by US-designated individuals who have weaponized them as bases for violent actions to displace Palestinians”.

USA also sanctioned some leading members of Lehava which is basically a KKK style organisation harrassing mixed marriages and burning schools.
