Hi Guys,

Have a very small cabinet on a job. 25 x HDMI cables. In order to properly cable manage it I had to use cables without very thick insulation/outer layer like you would get with a relatively cheap but stiff Dynamix cable.

I would have happily used stiff Dynamix cables but for the space it was impossible to work with them.

So the equally cheap generic cables I used were able to fit into the space much easier, but in the last 12 months at least 6 of those have died.

I spoke to my client and he understands that we need to replace all of them because you can't keep having cables die...

He is also willing to pay the significant costs to get the RIGHT cable, thankfully.

In an ideal world frankly I wish I could just cut the correct lengths I would need for each length of HDMI but obviously that is not possible. It's kind of stupid that we even use HDMI in certain situations when you consider how fragile it is, yet Cat6 can be twisted and turned and delivers the same data... sometimes I wish they would make kit that took RJ-45 input and did the conversion to HDMI inside the unit... would make cable management infinitely easier anyway!

There are already about 12 little boxes along with the rest of the AV components including HDMI splitters, HDMI-to-Cat6 converters and Cat6-to-HDMI converters and there is no way around using those, and this is where all the many number of small hdmi cable length are coming from.

I would really love a 'flat' cable more like an eSata cable, for example the QED Performance e-Flex HDMI cable seems like a pretty good candidate on paper but I need some independent advice from someone who has actually had to do this and done so successfully.

Thanks in advance. Just standard HDMI spec cables only, no Ultra Hi-Def or ethernet on the line as well. Only need 0.5m and 1m lengths.

Sanus have put a few low profile + thin cables into the market... haven't seen them for a while though.
