Hi again. Yet another post :)

Since I got my lcd tv I've noticed that during dvd playback, when the camera pans fairly quickly, movement is actually slightly jittery. The jitters seem to be fairly regular. I'm not sure what is causing this. Any ideas? One idea I had is that there some kind of mismatch between the refresh rate of the dvd, the refresh rate my graphics card is outputting (60, though I could try 50 or 59), the refresh rate that works best over hdmi, or the refresh rate that my tv prefers to display. I don't know. Should I try and force my video card to output 24Hz and see if that makes a difference? Just a noob guess, and I don't want to make my tv 'splode :)

Currently my specs/setup are as follows:

AMD Phenom x4 9750
Sapphire Radeon hd4870 (outputting both audio and video via one DVI port with a DVI->hdmi dongle and an hdmi wire attached).
Some kind of SATA DVD-RW drive. I forget specific model (perhaps pioneer?)

Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit.
Windows media player (Haven't tried or even installed power dvd or VLC, I guess this would be my next step).

You really should be using 50Hz output if you have 50Hz content.

Ahh, is DVD video 25Hz in NZ? For some reason I thought it was 24Hz, but I just looked at wikipedia and it suggested that PAL (which is what we use in NZ, right?) is 25 Hz. Thus, as 25 evenly divides into 50, 50Hz would produce smoother DVD playback? Sweet, I'll try that as soon as I get home.

Now, for another question. Text seems to look clearer for me at 60Hz. Is there a way to tell Windows media player (or any other dvd player for that matter) to change the output refresh rate to 50Hz if and only if I have a dvd video maximised?

Similarly, can and should I do something similar with the resolution?

Quick update:

I set it to 50Hz and it works fine. Question though: what's an easy way to switch between refresh rates at the click of a button? I'm using catalyst control center, but I hate having to open it up and change the refresh rate. Is it possible to set it to allow me to switch refresh rates using the control center icon on the task bar? Or with a short-cut key? Or better yet, can I somehow tell it to automatically play dvds at 50Hz?
