After a while your browser should go through by just clicking the button. The images are only shown if there's a suspicion of automation.

RUKI:
freitasm: Also, to RUKI (who posted in another thread)... The image captcha is only shown if the Captcha system has doubts about your click in the checkbox. I've only seen food images so far, so I am guessing they really want to find out if you are human...

I am not so sure, mate. Maybe I am not.
But hey, captcha has brains - it is not 11 am yet (not a lunch time yet) and captcha did not show a thing. Yesterday - just before heading to dinner - it showed plenty of meat to choose from the captcha and surely there it was - I had meat loaf on getting back home.

This @%#$% captcha is really causing me problems. I cannot log in at all on the main computer I use for browsing. I tried two different browsers and I get the same result. No captcha image appears and I get an error. I do not have any ad or script blockers installed on these browsers.

I have an alternate computer that has remain logged in for ages, from before the captcha was installed, and that is what I am using to post this but for a number of reasons I don't want to have to do it this way all the time.

The image shows what I get when I try to log in.

Edit: The image came out too small to read. I will try to attach the original without shrinking.

It seems in your case there is something blocking access to the scripts on Google - either antivirus, antimalware with false positives, or a proxy service, or a VPN, or wrong DNS being used.

Can't seem to login when I am using my opendns DNS servers.
We have opendns configured to block a number of things:

Is there any domains I need to whitelist to get it to work?
Working OK without my opendns settings.

Sorry but this is really becoming a nuisance. I still can't log in on my main computer. I am now mainly using my laptop for GZ. It is new, Win 8.1, no unusual settings or software, but I am still having constant captcha issues. I have to go through the captcha every single time I log in (how does it decide who is human?) and now I find I am being logged out at least once or more every day in spite of ticking the box to stay logged in. I don't shut down the laptop, just put it on standby when I close the lid. I never had any of this before the captcha was installed.

As a contrast I've had zero issues on any of the computers/phone/tablets or with any browser.

If you are experiencing requests to login after checking the box then you definitely have a process that cleans up cookies on a schedule basis. AV or anti-malware software may do this.

Works fine for me too.

Anyone that installs software or uses services that interfere with the normal operation of Web stuff has to accept the consequences.

The thing I can't figure out is what is causing this behaviour on my current laptop. As far as I can determine, there is nothing that would do this. I only have Ghostery installed, with widgets allowed. The only AV is Malwarebytes in passive mode. I don't see anything in firewall (Online Armour) that would do this. However I don't know a lot about Windows 8.1.

Since the captcha was added I have not been able to log on to Geekzone from one of my computers. Whatever I try, the captcha simply
does not appear and I get an error. Since I have a backup computer that does work, I have not been too agitated by this but it is
really becoming inconvenient and I would like to get it solved.

I just had another go. I have disabled every privacy and security setting I can find. I have even temporarily disabled my firewall.
I have two browsers on my computer, one of them Chrome-based and up to date, the other Opera 12. I cannot get the captcha to work
with either one.

If I open the java console, Opera just puts up a red flag and says linked script not loaded. With Chrome I get the following:

'https://www.geekzone.co.nz/login.asp' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure script
'http://cse.google.co.nz/coop/cse/brand?form=cse-search-box&lang=en'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over
HTTPS.

https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
https://www.gstatic.com/recaptcha/api2/r20150722114659/recaptcha__en_gb.js Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I don't know what to try next. Can someone please help me with this? I am not aware of any problem using captcha on any other site
that requires it. I have only run into this with Geekzone.

Do you have a VPN? Does it work over this VPN?

Connection refused makes me think it is something related to your IP or ISP being blocked.

If you are getting connection refused from www.googletagservices.com , www.google-analytics.com , www.gstatic.com and then something is blocking it. You havent gone and put a hosts file in redirecting it to a different IP address have you? One of the misguided things that some privacy nuts do is suggest that people put sites in there that they dont like pointing to localhost.

PIng them and see what IP address is returned.

I get:

C:\>

If you only have IPv4 then you will of course get something different, but if you get ::1: or 127.0.0.1 as the address then it has a misconfigured hosts file on the computer. Possibly left by some over-zelous "security" software that has not cleaned up after itself when removed.
