First off hey guys this is my first post WOOT

I signed up because usually after googling a problem (In my "Networking Noob Days" .. u guys had the answer ..

I have an issue, my issue is TCL are ******** and i think its time we all do somthing about it ie start a petition email and forward it to Allan Freeth the CEO of Telstra and one copy to sombody like Fair GO.

they have screwed over my porting etc and im sick of intermitently having months of being able to host games and months of not being able to. Sick of being told they AREN'T the problem when they blatantly are and sick of them not doing anything about their poor standards of customer service and refusing to reimburse customers for being mucked around.
Seriously are there no laws against such Blatant Daylight Robbery???

They need to get their act together .. i dunno what do you guys think??
If I get enough Replies to this Post I'll take out a .co.nz dedicated to sorting this out .. or perhaps Geekzone wouldnt mind hosting a Petition drop box??

!!Resistance is Futile, MY voice is LOUD, OUR VOICE IS LOUDER!!

So what are your problems?

TCL do read post on here, maybe if you'd like to actually describe them rather than just saying "TCL are hopeless" then you might be able to get some action.

Why don't you show your discontent by moving to another ISP?

Because im one of those people that beleive if i Purchase a service i should RECIEVE a service.
I am actually looking at another ISP at the moment but walking away and letting them keep my money for mucking around doesn't sound like a great idea either a morality issue?? definitly!!

So are you a TCL on network customer or off network? What are your issues with hosting? TCL's cable network doesn't block or stop you running local services on your machine and there are large numbers of people who do run their own servers. What problem exactly are you having?

OK here goes

I am a Cable customer in Addington Christchurch
I am also a previous employee of TCL .. go figure
I now work for a computer company in the technical sales department where i am diagnosing and repairing  PC's etc daily..

my problem is that even directly connected to my Cable modem without any firewall enabled and all ports open anyway.
i can't host games .. 3 weeks before april this problem magically resolved itself.

after the last update it magically came back.

after waiting for 50 minutes during a "20 minute" wait time i got put onto a lad named IAN in the faults department who would'nt answer any of the questions i had .. literally ..

Granted im a tad bit grumpy (3 wisdom teeth to come out today and another tooth ... damn cola its so goood)

either or i have had the onsite guy at my work test my setup just so i don't make an idiot of myself when sombody reccomends somthing simple ... like turning my modem on .. lol

i can still access the net etc but all my other ports like Utorrent, Battle.net, EA's Server (Tib Wars Powns) just aren't open .... hence the filthy topic at the top of this post..

any more questions im here till 3 when i goto the oral Butcher

So it's not "porting" as in Number Portability, but as in PORTS for services on your network? Oh... It helps if you explain things from the first post...

I think it's something on your PC. Most likely a personal software firewall - Zone Alarm and Norton will block things EVEN if you turn these software off. You have to remove those to have full functionality back. Now, if you have Windows Firewal active, it pays to check the status, including blocked programs, allowed programs, etc.

I'm around Riccarton area, and I don't have the problem you described.

My porting went well, I kept both Telecom number as well as my new TCL number. Though a day after the porting, TCL did screw up something and fixed it very quickly after.

However, I do think you are venting your frustration for during your time at TCL and looking for a way to get your vent out. As far as I know, my cable service is not throttled or controlled, if anything, it is fully open network..

Oh, the few things that I have in mind that I hope something can be done with TCL is... an integrated modem+HDD HD-PVR with HDMI/component output/Optical audio. And Cartoon Network Boomerang, Discovery Health channel and Discovery Home channel .

Have you tried an online port scan to see if the scanner can reach your IP?

When starting a game, are you using IP address or a domain name (such as the ones from www.dyndns.org)?

Other than this, contact TCL again, and ask again... If you have four PCs acting like this, in four different connections, make everyone affected call them and refer to each others case numbers.

Update? What update was this?

To confirm, you have seen this problem on multiple PCs, all directly connected to the same cable modem? There is no cable router, firewall or anything else in the way?

I don't suppose you have tried to see if the same PC works when connected to another cable modem (I realise that this may very well not be practical for you to test, but I thought I'd ask)

Another two questions:

1.If you have more than one PC at home than you are not directly connected to the cable modem. You should at least have a router. This makes me presume you have NAT? Is the Port Forwarding correctly configured to your PC's internal IP Address?

2.Again, as asked before, what update? From TelstraClear? Or Windows Update? Or a game update?
