I have an LG KU380 and noticed today that for some reason I can get 3G coverage in Oamaru FINALLY!

Now I can finally video-call everyone I know that has 3G as well! Thanks vodafone for getting the 3G coverage. Also I can get 3G all throughout town and out to the boundrys as well. Havnt really tried anywhere else.

Thanks VF!

Cool Cool.. People still video call? I tried it once or twice but it felt awkward, so haven't done it since.

A friend has a camera that has 3g in it and you video call it to see whats happening at the shop. Very cool.

I use video calling - a lot. Both person-to person and also 2 devices similar to that "3g shop camera" setup.

Only problem is Vodafone by default remove the "UMTS only" option from most customised handsets phones by default which is very annoying when I'm in 900MHz areas.

Question in case JohnR comes here, will 900MHz rollout be extended to main centres too? 2100 MHz and Wellington's hills and buildings do not mix.

Rich, any chance you could find out more info on that camera? I have hacked phones that do the same thing but it's a bit funky.

Option 1

Option 2

They don't appear on the Swann site if you choose your country as NZ though so maybe not available here.

True for the entire Swann product range, not sure if they have those actual cameras though.

Dove is a distributor but may be able to point you to someone nearby who can sell to you if they have them in stock in NZ.

Oh, is the reason that its not switching over the 3G automatically because its not the default network? That makes sense now! Thanks garvani..

JohnR - Any idea when they will change it too the default network?
