Simple answer - neither are better.
% coverage figures are very similar for both and both networks have deadspots and areas where they have no coverage the the other network does. Unless you live, work or play in one of these areas then coverage should not be a factor in your decision.
Depends who closer to what serving cell and many other factors like azimuth / power output and gain on the antenna panels ETC............

Edit: frequency used on the serving cells in the area will change coverage foot print as well
Ask for official figures and most recent drive test data if the sales person is claiming coverage is better over another carrier
Partner and I switched from one to the other recently.
We've learned the new network is much worse, with large deadspots on my main road commute.
The new network also collapsed in last two power cuts, other operator never interrupted service.
