Well Winter is over, Spring is here, Summer is coming and Hooray, so is Daylight Saving Time!

I have a 4 Burner BBQ, reasoanable quality but the burners are basically rusted out and coming apart, light the BBQ can be a pain. Can anyone who knows about these things tell me if $35 is a reasonable price per burner for a replacement? Secondly, are all burners going to fit my BBQ or do I need MY models specific burners?

Feel free to share a BBQ Recipe, or experience or just comment on how much you are looking forward to summer this year. My son is 3 and this year I am going camping with him in our back yard, I can't wait!

Steak:
1) Turn on barbie
2) Chuck on the steaks
3) Turn the steaks
4) Remove the steaks
5) Eat the steaks (vegetables and sharing optional)

Common sense is not as common as you think.

cast iron burners?  like  a bbq factory burner?

they're not cheap - even at the bbq factory liquidation sales the ones I bought still cost like $20 each.

at $35 each, if you're replacing 4 of them - it might make you think a bit about replacing the BBQ....

So long as the burner fits over the gas outlet port in your BBQ it should be fine as a replacement burner. I've replaced all of mine in the last couple of seasons and would recommend that if it's not lighting appropriately it might be your sparker that is on the fritz rather than the burners, or do you use a match/lighter anyway?

My biggest tip for BBQing : Let it get hot before using it. As in, turn it way up for 10-15min, then turn it down to cooking temp and get to it.

This. Please, please, please. For all that is sacred/lawful do not overcook steaks and make them into a leather sole. Or charred dry hard to bite disgusting things.

You'll note my concise instructions didn't carry any time specifiers. This is because the way people like their steak is a subjective thing, and I wanted the recipe to have maximum flexibility.

FWLIW, I require my steaks to still be mooing too.

I refuse to take steak to a BBQ I am invited to, it always ends up ruined!

Exactly my thoughts. What's with friends always overcooking steaks?

Prefer mine not to have a head to be able to moo to start with....

I BBQ all year round, great having the BBQ under cover :)

Think there will be a lot of fish being thrown on the BBQ this summer. Freshly caught snapper put into tin foil with some lemon and herbs seems to keep the wife happy during BBQs :)

I always get in trouble with my mother-in-law for undercooking hers. And I try really, really hard to burn hers to a crisp too!

Friends don't let friends overcook steak.

I used to hate steak as a kid, but that's because the old's would cook it till it was brown and chewy all the way through. Yuck.

seriously im not trolling, i just cant see the attraction of them. People who would never cook indoors suddenly think they are Gordon Ramsey and start cooking outside and i have been to to many BBQ's where the food is really bad, steaks turned to leather , sausages to carbon, chicken undercooked. As a qualified chef it upsets me to see food ruined.
