Oh no apple no problems, even after the T join I dont think you changed the material as this is my 3rd split on a cable that rarely moves haha.

Im not sure what diameter but I think 3.1mm. I Jaycar the only place that sell it, I only need 4-6cm worth.

Also dont have heat gun, Ive seen blow dryers used, candles, even ovens (thats dangerous).

Have repaired my Apple charger a few times too! I think the L type lasts better than T.

Try aliexpress for white heatshrink, will just take a few weeks to get here. I use a cigarette lighter, just have to be careful

I have fixed a few with black adhesive lined dual walled heatshrink. The glue sticks to the cable for a more secure repair than normal heatshrink.

Aesthetics is not really a concern for me when fixing cables.

Electrical wholesalers, eg Ideal Electrical sell it in 1.2m lengths.

Many auto electricians will also have it.

Be careful using dual wall/glue lined heatshrink on cables that flex a lot. It's very stiff and the conductors will break at the heat shrink.
Seen this more times than I can count on power cords.

put a bic pen spring under the heat shrink to stabilise the cable

this is our 3rd magsafe and get this, it sits on a desk. nobody believes us and tells us we must thrash it. sick of telling people on the net that the material used is condusive to splitting.

i know jay car have ordinary heat shrink, ill try them first, just dont know what size, i think its 3.1mm, will need to stretch it with a pen to get it over the L connector first though.

Heat shrink typically shrinks to half it's size. If you say the cable is 3.1mm, go with 5mm heat shrink.

there are 3 types of heatshrink, thin wall dual wall and heavy wall, thin wall it the regular stuff with out resin/glue in it, dual wall is like thin wall but with resin/glue and heavy wall is really thick and has heaps of glue/resin in it and used for under ground joins also has a smaller shrinking diamater for example a 70mm heavy wall will shrink down to 20mm with about 6mm of insulation

sorry I didnt get round to this job. the problem is the L Magsafe is about 10mm wide, but the cable is 3mm. Could you shrink 10mm more than 50%? or would it be better to build up underneath with leccy tape to about 5mm?

Heatshrink doesn't shrink any further than specified.

When i need to achieve something like this, I sometimes put long nose pliers inside the heatshrink and open them to stretch it.
