I recently moved to MyRepublic's FibrePro plan 950Mbps/500Mbps. (from 100/20)

I ran the speedtest to all the ISPs I can find in Auckland and they are all showing my speed is 100Mbps/100Mbps.

The test was from my PC, CAT6 connected to ASUS AC87U router (GB upstream port), wired CAT5e and then to OTA. I have checked Chorus fibre map and it said my address can connect 1000Mbps.

I read something in GeekZone and some are saying that speedtest.net not necessary the best way to test the speed (layer 2 / layer 3 etc.), but

how would I know if I am not being ripped off by the ISP? How can I really test it?

Whoa, slow down....... did you ask your ISP for the 1gig plan ? If yes, then just sounds like a wrong button was clicked somewhere and a 100/100 plan applied.

Call your ISP to confirm.

honestly there are 10's of threads like this on here, you need to stop and have a read of them, as there are usually a few causes to this issue which are covered in those threads

Is the PC to router connection running at 100Mbps or 1 Gbps?

On the PC, go Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connection. Check the speed.

Log on to the router and check if the uplink to the ONT is running at 1 Gbps.

If it all appears to be 1 Gbps, it's likely your service is mis-provisioned. Contact MyRepublic.

Dude. Dunno what world you live in, but 925 is totally not as big as 950. You should complain.

Not all speed test destination servers supply more than 100mbs.

I spent several hours trouble shooting my setup with Vodafone as closest server said I was on 100mbs.

Turned out the closest server couldn't speed test faster than 100mbs nothing wrong with my system.

Ultimately if you dont notice speed issue when using PC, I stopped caring the exact speed I'm running at...

Just like my friends with high end cars never test the can go at 200 mph..

Hi DonH,

I have already checked my local PC and I am trying to borrow someone else laptop to retest it.. All my local connection from Windows shows 1Gbps.

I will see how I can check the uplink to ONT from router and see. Just wanna to eliminate as many variables as possible before I contact MyRepublic (wasting their time and I have to go through all the checks with them again)

The ont colour is a dead giveaway as to whether you're connected at 1000 or 100 mbps. Sorry can't remember which colour is which. Google it.

On the Chorus ONT - Green for 100Mbit, Orange for Gigabit.
