Hi,
Looking at good racing games for the PC, I have a modern machine with a three screen setup which is just begging for a good racing game. Have tried R Racer2 but it only supports the three screens if I set them up as a single screen in the Nvidia control panel and also seems to be very limited in car options.

Not really into the NFS get away from the cops scene, nor the F1 only scene, best option would be track based racing of street cars.

Ideas? Or am I out of luck and being too fussy?

grid (1 not sure about 2) is by far the best pc game.. for multi-player ;)

not sure what it is, but whenever i play it, everyone stops pretty fast though :/

Dirt 2, 3, Showdown are amazing racing games. Great graphics, run well on 3 screens from what I've seen :)

Thanks guys, turns out both Grid and Dirt are by the same developer, trying Grid2 first, it does only support three monitors in stretch mode though, still impressive at 5760x1080 resolution though!

I recently saw a video of three 4k monitors running Dirt. It was impressive to say the least, even though an insanely expensive setup. Heh.

How is your 3 screen setup? Matrox To Go? (or something like that)

How is frame rate affected?

Hello

I have been playing sim racing for a number of years now and have dabbled with the following:

GTLegends
GTR2
iRacing
rFactor2
(among other non sim type games - like NFS series, and a number of different rally games)

Purely for racing online with a vast number of players/races, iracing is pretty impressive - although has the ongoing subscription cost. But game play, realism is pretty sharp. Once you progress from the initial rookie license the quality of drivers/racers gets much better - so keep at it if you think you might like it. I got sick of pouring money into it, so got out.

GTLegends - still has a huge community behind it, so lots of stuff going on there, and quite good for some nostalgic racing. Also does online racing too - so join up with a good community and you will be sorted - I find the major challenge is getting into races for the NZ timezone, when we are not at work/sleep :(

more recently I have been getting into rFactor2 (even though it is still in beta)...the game is seriously smart...awesome tire modelling, great realism, some super cars already (wing/F1 style cars, along with a smattering of tin tops). Online wise it has not taken off like rFactor (1st gen), but it will once it comes to market properly in a finished state....so even though this is in beta I am still loving it, and it certainly is polished.
One thing to note - it might be a little disappointing if your machine can't run with all/lots of the fruit turned up. I am running a 4ghz quad core, SSD, 6GB RAM with a 670 GPU and I still can't run everything at full (almost but not quite) - but when I was running Dual SLI'd 450 GPU's I was a little disheartened...it seriously came to life with the 670 GPU. Am loving it now.

How is your 3 screen setup? Matrox To Go? (or something like that)

I just used the Nvidia control panel to merge all three screens into one to get multiscreen to work, I was kind of hoping to avoid having to do that as it creates other issues for me.

No noticeable lag on Frame rate but then its a well spec'd new PC, Haswell i5 CPU, 16GB RAM, Samsung 840 SSD, Nvidia GTX660. Running all three screens together at 5760x1080 with 4x AA. I was impressed that I got away with it!

I've got and love playing GTR 2. So many mods, whether it be car mods, track mods or others. There's a huge comuunity out on the web almost dedicate to writing and improving mods for GTR 2. The likes of:

f1 classic

If you like racing older stuff, 60's & 70's then there is the Power and Glory V3 mod for GTR 2 as well. This works as a standalone installation as well.
