Im approx 20% of the way through the game... very easy to get sidetracked form the main story tho ;)

I think the completion percentage takes side quests into account? Doesn't take into account seeing how far you can jump a bike off a roof repeatedly though. :)

I'm finding it more "fun" than GTA4, more interesting characters. I've actually laughed out loud several times so far which I don't recall doing for IV.

IV, I never got into (didnt help that I was borrowing a copy and only got my own a few months ago), was too much "work" with little reward - and the game always seemed so dark and dreary.

V however, wow... the rewards seem so much better :) And its not dark and dreary :)

I still havent explored everywhere yet (huge grey areas on my map), but thats because Im taking my time exploring the "local" area first.

I second that.  I'm having as much fun in this as I did in GTA III and Vice City.  I kind of lost interest in San Andres, and got bored and stopped when playing GTA4.   Vice city was my previous benchmark for fun, and this is feeling at least as good so far.

Rockstar have released more info on GTAOnline - and admitted there will be teething issues etc, but good on them for saying that straight up and asking for the community to help straight away. If it was EA or anyone else, there would be denial of issues, accusations of mods causing the issues and so on.... then after 12 months they might finally do something about it. ;)

Anyway, heres the link - cant wait :)

There is a jump at the airport everytime I go over it, it shows climatic slow mo, but then I fail, not sure what I need to do to be allowed it.

Secondly, is the airport unlocked at some point, or will it always get upset at me if I enter the area where the planes are?

Provided this isn't considered a spoiler, the airport unlocks when you buy a hanger I think.

WTH.... driving out to the airport in a car (stolen)... no wanted level. No problems. Until I got distracted and ran into a pillar on the side of the road.

3 star wanted level straight away.

Theres some "odd" moments in this game, thats for sure ;)

Similar thing happened to me, I was parked up outside the security gate, pretty much on the road, about to buy the hanger, when I got a phone call. So I just sat in the car.  Next thing I know, the security guard from the gate comes over and starts shooting me and I have a wanted level.

I am about eight hours/10% into the game and have completely run out of missions. i.e. nothing showing that I can do. Have done 8 main story missions and about 3-4 'freaks and strangers' and other misc missions. Have tried calling contracts to drum up business - nothing doing.

The first heist has been initiated but I can't see how to continue it. I hope none of this is considered a spoiler. I have tried googling on this with no real success. I have looked for missions both as Michael and Franklin - Trevor has not appeared yet.

Quite frustrating - any suggestions?

I have tried the car racing mission as Franklin and I am never able to win, as required, I guess because I'm a crap driver (my 60+ year-old twitch reflexes are not up to it).

Just wondering whether not winning/completing that 'mission' is what's stopping me from finding other missions (see my post above)? Has anyone else been able to proceed with the game after trying but not winning the car race?

No clue how your stuck, have you tried going back home with both characters?  I have had a similar situation, where a mission did not continue at the correct point.  I had to redo the mission and then it worked 2nd time around.  But after the 1st Heist, a pretty big change occurred automatically for me, which opened up the full dynamic of the game.  Although I have not attempted the racing mission yet.

Many thanks kinsten - that's exactly the advice I needed. I had not been back to Franklin's house for ages - once I did, all good. Cheers.
