Anyone else playing this at the moment?

Best multiplayer team game I have played in a long while IMO.
Soooo much fun playing as the zombies attacking the pathetic humans :P

I have it on PC, so if anyone wants to have a game PM me your steam ID and I will add you as a friend.

I wasn't too impressed to be honest.

Valve seems to produce a lot of the same thing.

I prefer Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty 5 :D

Aside from the fact that it is an FPS game, and so uses several  traditional FPS things (like shotgun, pistol, rifle) Left 4 Dead has almost nothing in common with any other Valve game that I can think of.

In fact I would go so far as to say that L4D has many more unique points to it than any other FPS out there right now.

I have never played a game where successful co-op was such a necessary part of the game. You either play as a team, or die. Horribly. I love the game, and will typically play through a campaign before finishing off the night with a bit of Versus. It is a unique experience IMO, not that I play that many different games, but the two things that stand out for me are the fact that the zombies aren't the lurching variety - they go berzerk and run at you, shouting all sorts of nonsense - and secondly the need for effective team play is greater than any other game I have played. If you become separated from your team, chances are you will soon be taken by the undead. If you don't help your team-mates get through to the end of the round, your own chances of survival are greatly diminished.

The only negative thing for me is that I have to play multiplayer late at night when the younger players are in bed. In a team of 4 it's easy to be vote-kicked for not rescuing a team mate when in fact you're running around the corridors trying to avoid a Tank chasing you. Or then there was the time I joined a game in progress, got puked on by a Boomer, and subsequently got kicked for stumbling around the forest trying to avoid the Horde and "ignoring" my team. This and the high-pitched whining of these little losers can spoil a game, even a game of Counterstrike is more civilised.

Otherwise, great game. I understand some more downloadable content is on the way, looking forward to it.

Awesome game. I've typically been more into games that have a good story behind them, however this is very vague on the story side. It doesn't really need one though, as there are heaps of movies out there which have already set the sort of tone for it. You know what needs to be done.

I'd also say its hard to see how this is NOT original. You HAVE to team up or you're done for. If you get caught by a smoker or hunter, you NEED someone to come rescue you. (Insert under-breath grumble about stupid AI standing around and doing nothing while you get munched by a hunter even though they're standing close to you and not being attacked themselves).
The flipside is just as interesting. I actually prefer playing as the Infected in Versus mode. I can't think of any games which have allowed you to do that. Theres nothing quite as satisfying as catching a lone member when you're a hunter! Or targeting someone as a smoker and attacking from an unseen place. Same goes for a boomer. I was ontop of a building the other day and spewed about 4 stories onto the unsuspecting victims below! >:D

Good deal, but annoying for me as I just bought it on Thursday!

i love this game. personally, i think it's one of the best zombie shooters.
it is very intense and those fat zombie's with the tongues are freaky!!!

I highly recommend it people who
a) like zombies
b) like FPS
c) brains.....

I think Left 4 Dead is pretty slickly put together, it really captures everything good about a Zombie movie and packages it into a game.

The only real complaint people have with it is that there isn't enough content, but being a Valve game there is extra content on the way, and no doubt more will be drip fed over the next few years.  This helps keep interest up and a good playing community alive, extending your value for money (if you are into multiplayer).

I'm really enjoying versus mode.

Cybergamers in Aus is running a L4D ladder 4v4.

The biggest problem I find with it is the difference in difficulty between Advanced and Expert.
A friend and I have tried to play Dead Air on Expert and can't get past the 3rd level.
If we play it on Advanced, we stroll through the levels, picking daisys on the way, taking photos and stopping for tea and scone breaks.

Experts designed to be fairly unforgiving, a single mistake will usually gets someone encapped, Only real issue I've had on expert is the rediculous amount of ammo the tank needs to take down. Played one the other night and had a hell of a time. Two of our team got encapped immediately becuase the tank decided to appear right by a fallen tree and proceeded to hurl it at our team. Just lucky we had the gun upgrades, but still went through nearly all our main ammo, and a molotov before he went down.

I don't know if it's that big of a jump from advanced, maybe just that little bit extra which breaks the camels back. Then again, depending on what randoms I'm playing with, elite can seem impossible lol.

Yeah Expert is an order of magnitude tougher than Advanced, especially if you use the shotgun you can accidentally 1 shot your team mates very easily.  If you both use the assault rifle it makes zombie rushes much harder.
