Hi. I'm not a native english speaker so excuse my possible and probable errors in writing. My problem is that my fritzbox 7360 router reports syncing with dslam on far greater speed than what I am getting. I have freshly transferred to a new ISP and the default profile speed was 25Mbit download, 3Mbit upload. After a few days i asked for an increase in speed and after that my router reported a sync speed of 35Mbit down/11up, however on average i still have completely same speed as before. There are no torrents or other downloads working in background. Computer is directly connected to router by lan cable and ISP technical support seems to have no clue.

This is most probably something your ISP should be able to resolve, however there is not likely to be anyone on this forum with a good working knowledge of ISPs in your country.

Not really related but your English is very good for a non-native speaker.

Thanks. Anyway I wouldn't ask for help on a NZ forum if I was able to get help on domestic forums or from my ISP tech support. My only hope now is to call them some other time and "pray" i get more competent guy on other side.

Is your plan traffic shaped in anyway?

Have you tried a factor reset of the fritzbox?

Nope, there are some preset stuff on router, even my username/passsword. I've got it as practically "plug & play". If I do something like that then I will have to call them to give me setup info. However i did try a normal reset a few times, plugging out the power cord, changing lan cable, trying wlan and stuff like that.

It seems you've got QoS running on the Fritz!Box which is limiting your upload / download speed. As other users have suggested I'd recommend running a factory reset to clear out any old rules from the Fritz! else get in contact with your ISP.

Can you please explain what is QoS and can I disable it without doing a factory reset?

QoS is Quality of Service. It allows you to limit the speeds of different types of traffic through your router, to prioritise traffic.

Not sure how you change it without a factory reset. But I do recall a couple of other users on these forums having issues moving to VDSL from ADSL where the fritzbox would continue running at ADSL limits (particularly the upload IIRC)

I'd try the factory reset and go through your ISPs technical support to get the settings. If that doesn't work then I'd say it's something that your ISP needs to sort out at their end.

It seems the problem is solved, I called again and this technician saw that they made mistake before while changing speed, apparently they changed dslam profile but not speed limits on their side. Thanks for help guys. Thread can be closed.
