Hi!

I found these pages and although I read a lot of stuff I still can't manage to access my home LAN with my Palm Tungsten T or Laptop with Bluetooth Dongle.

Here's my setup:

PDA: Palm Tungsten T;
Laptop: TARGA Laptop with Bluetooth USB dongle (Wireless disabled when connecting with the bluetooth dongle);
BT Access Point: Tecom BT3021 connected via ethernet to router;
Router: SMC Wireless Barricade Router G with internal ADSL Modem wich is automatically connected on demand.

Here's the Palm configuration:

Connection:
Name: BT to LAN;
Connect to: Local Network;
Using: Bluetooth;
Device: BT Access Point; (That's the bluetooth name of the Access Point);
Speed: 115.200 bps;
Flow Control: Automatic;

Network:
Service: Bluetooth LAN;
Username: (none);
Password: (none);
Connection: BT to LAN (The same decribed above);

Type of connection: PPP;
Timeout: Never;
Query DNS: (checked);
Endereço IP: (checked. The Access Point is set to DHCP ON);

Script: (I've tried them all with no success).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know a lot opf peolple managed to get their Access Points working. Could you please help me understand what the hell am I doing wrong here?

By the way, when I try to access my network with the Laptop, the Bluetooth system finds the AP and installs a "BluetoothnullModem" instance. The problem is it asks for a login/password combination, and I have no idea what that might be. I tried the ISP login and password, no password, BT Access Point Web configuration interface username and password and none and allways got the same result: "Error 777 contact your Network Administrator".

Thank you very much in advance,

Carlos

I think it should work, since the product page says the TECOM supports LAP (LAN over PPP), which is the only profile the Palm devices support.

You should read this page for more information.

Make sure your AP is set to give IP addresses and the correct DNS address is configured.

Yes, but via normal e-mail, not via PM (I can't see any images of your server).

Anyway, have you tried this script?

Yes.

That's the one currently on my PDA.

Ive also tried this one:

SEND: CLIENT
SEND: CLIENT
WAITFOR: CLIENTSERVER

Currently my connection log goes something like this:

S: ^M
S: CLIENT
R:
Err 0x1212

Sometimes when connecting to the AP it comes up identified as "BT Access Point [IP Address]", other times as "BROADCOM BCM2033". Is this normal?

The script I pointed on the screenshot should work with all LAP connections, since it is a standard PPP script.

As for the screenshots - The DNS, Gateway all point to 192.168.2.1... Is this a router on your network? If not, then it should really point to your ISP configuration. It looks like your Palm is trying to get an IP address but no DHCP server is responding.

Also, make sure the AP is set to the same network range as the router (if there is one).

Yes, 192.168.2.1 is the router.

Which device should give the IP address to the Palm? The AP or the Router? If the router sets the address by DHCP, it will be a 192.168.2.1xx address.

What do you mean if the AP is set to the same range? The range for DHCP attribution on the router is 192.168.2.1xx. The AP is on 192.168.2.101. I guess it's on the range.

Another thing: The router supplies the Internet connection. I shouldn't have to give ISP information to the Palm since this resource is available through the router.

I just want to browse my network with the Palm and, if necessary access the internet.

This bluetooth thing is more complicated than I ever could imagine.

Well, it's not the Bluetooth really - it's the network configuration. It would be the same with Wi-Fi.

I used to have a BT Access Point before. I am not sure your router is a DNS provider or simply routing, so... I used to have my Bluetooth AP set with DHCP in a different range than my router. So you can have your router on 192.168.2.1 and the Bluetooth AP on 192.168.0.1.

Set the Bluetooth router to give out a DHCP address if requested, and make sure it is manually configured to 192.168.0.1, giving addresses in therange 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.255. Make sure to enter te DNS and Gateway your ISP provided you. In other words, bypass the router for this.

Your router should be used by all other computers on the network (if any) and the Bluetooth AP will be used by Bluetooth devices only.

I had this on my configuration and it worked fine.

Ok,

I've put the AP on 192.168.0.1.

Result: The AP disappeared from my network and I had to use the locator to be able to access it again. While it was on 192.168.0.1 I still couldn't get a connection on the Palm.

I'll send you a few prntScreens from the router config.
