I have a UDM Pro that's been running on MyRepublic 1g fibre connection no issues for sometime now. Have upgraded to Hyperfibre, and Chorus installed a nice shiny new black Nokia ONT (model number XS-250WX-A)

Whilst I was waiting for my MikroTik RJ45 SFP+ 10/100/1000M 2.5G/5G/10G copper module to arrive, I utilised the Lan1 connection at the ONT into port 9 on the UDM. Everything worked fine on 1g connection.

I took delivery of the MikroTik SFP+ module yesterday and installed it this morning. Updated Port 10 on the UDM to match the Port 9 settings, but changing speed from Auto to 10Gbps as recommended on a Unifi forums post.

Moved from port 9 to port 10 on the UDM. Activity lights showed on the port 10 10g SFP+ connection at the UDM end, so far so good. Checked and had internet connection.

Then I moved the plug at the ONT end from Lan1 to the Lan10g connection. Internet connection dropped and didn't come back up. Lan10g activity light on the ONT was a slow blinking for about 1 minute then no light at all. No activity lights at the SFP+ module. And the UDM reported “plug in cable”. Restart UDM. Wait to come back up. No change.

Moved ONT cable back to Lan1. Internet connection came back up, so left it there running on 1g connection.

What am I missing? We recently had the rack fully recabled by our AV guys, and I'm told the network cable from the ONT into the rack is Cat6 but maybe its not, and maybe that's what's causing the issues?

Below is the Port 10 summary. I also have a Unifi USW-Pro-48 PoE switch connected to the UDM Port 11 via SFP+ link

Hopefully its something easy I've overlooked and someone can point me in the right direction?

Let me know if I've missed any key details in the above and I'll endeavour to fill in the blanks as best I can.

I've no experience with Hyperfibre personally.

You screenshot shows a status of 10G Full Duplex, so that looks good to me in terms of the physical cable connection.

UFB internet connections on standard ONTs get applied to a single physical port on the ONT. I wonder of the ISP has applied the service to the wrong physical port on the ONT. Perhaps ask them to check?

If you connect directly into the Chorus ONT, you can probably login to it with the details provided by Myrepublic or on the sticker on the device, and check the connectivity. Activity LEDs on the ONT are also your friend. Otherwise, best bet would be to contact MyRepublic and run through troubleshooting steps with them.

From what I can see from MyRepublic's helpdesk info, it looks like they request the ONT run in RGW mode, so you might also experience double NAT, though don't quote me on that, as I haven't actually dabbled with HyperFibre.

The problem with udm pro is when you go 8Gbps hyperfibre, it is capped at around 6.7Gbps. A little bit sad this is not future proved. Then I tried MikroTik router too, which has other minor speed issues because I am using 40G switch for internal. My final solution is a 2U R730 server running gentoo linux. With 32 cores, it can handle 10Gbps NAT without any problems. I should go soft router at the very beginning. How much did I waste on the routers?😂

I wonder if you disable deep packet inspection etc if that would improve your speeds?

Yes, it is clearly stated on the specifications. It was worse than 6.7Gbps before disabling it. Then I started thinking: why do I need this thing if all the features are diabled? Only because it is 1U? That's not enough for me.

Just seached my orders, yes, that's the model I tried. It is working fine with 10Gbps networks but I have a Mellanox 40Gb main switch so it caused speed issues. I reported that bug. After five months, the MikroTik team told me it was fixed. By then I already have the R730.

Here is what I got from the dev team but I never put the router back since everything is working fine with R730.

"The latest RouterOS v6.49beta22 has improved resource allocation which has been extensively tested before the release and addresses CCR2004 performance issues in various setups. Please upgrade CCR2004 to see if it now works fine in your planned application."

Unusual running RouterOS v6 on a CCR2004.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

At least they claim it is a rounter. That was one of the two choices (the other one was UDM pro) you can find in the market, which are not too expensive.

It was working fine actually if I didn't connect it to the 40G switch. But I need RDMA etc so I had to give up.

I think Spyware means, why not upgrade to RouterOS 7? I'd probably give the CCR another crack running RouterOS 7.10, if only because the power consumption would be massively reduced versus the x86 Router, and will let you reallocate the poweredge to something else.
