Hi, I need some help in configuring a network.

I have two domain servers (win 2003 server) + two DHCPs + two DNSs

One domain (192.168.10.X) has 4PCs and assigns IPs to all 4PCs, from a switch I connect to a router (WAN) which has one leg with the same subnet (192.168.10.X) and an inner leg (192.168.2.X)

the inner leg is connected to another switch and from there to the second domain + DHCP (192.168.2.X) and other PCs.

I can access all PCs as well as domain from second domain (192.168.2.X) but cannot even ping this domain from first domain (192.168.10.X)

The router is firewall disabled as well as DHCP disabled.

Any idea how can I gain access from first domain (192.168.10.X) to second domain (192.168.2.X) ?

what is your subnet mask?

also what type of router is this? in terms of routing anyway, if the two routes are directly connected to this router then no static or dynamic routing is needed to make this work. the only issue I could see is if the subnet masks are something other than /24 and these subnets are overlapping. (but the router should not let you do that anyway).

It may be a more basic issue such as software firewalls on the PC's.

If this router has a command line, what you could try is create an access list allowing all traffic from subnet a to subnet b, and vice versa. do a couple of pings each way, then check the counters on the access lists to see if they are incrementing, ie for each ping packet the number should increase next to the access list. (this is based on a cisco router with a CLI by the way). I would expect if the counters are going up then the issue is on the pc's (or the switch), if they are not then you have an access-list or routing issue on the router.

Do you have a route to the network via the router between the 2 networks? One way will be ok since that router will be the default gateway and take care of it.

Also if the router is still doing nat then it will block stuff happening the other way.
